Hey welcome LURKER!
Thanks for sharing your experiences, although I'm happy with the flight times (seem to get at least 6 minutes, even with an extra ~4g of bodywork) it's cool to see experimentation with a larger main battery.
I also applaud you for flying outdoors. Just tried a short flight with mine and was barely able to fight a very light (<5mph?) breeze even with the swash links on the longer servo holes. Plus it's a sunny day so it would lose the IR link every 5 seconds or so and come crashing down...
Here's an inflight shot with the Army look. Stuck a 2mm piece of carbon tube over the front LED, now looks a bit like a cannon and isn't so blinding
Might try to give it a weathered look, any tips on the best way to do that?

In re of larger/heavier bat. the stock battery is 4g the upgrade is 6g, the 2g difference is IMO negligible. The 800G hovers well, in fact it just hangs there. I'm still flight testing b4 I solder the new bat on, will report.

Hey John FYI - I sent an email to that site asking if it was the S022g, and got this reply:

"Sorry for reply you so late and thanks for your email. Due to the syma factory give us the wrong heli info, so we show the wrong product which isn't "Syma S022 3CH RC helicopter with GYRO" but sure be "Syma S022 3CH RC helicopter", and we have updated our website. The really s022g isn't sell now."

Thanks for posting their reply Kurt, it just confirms my suspicions

One of these days someone will spot the real thing, then the fun starts

I completed the battery swap for the 200mAh Battery 3.7v Lithium Polymer. I installed the new battery under the canopy. The charge time took about 45 minutes and flight time was 11 minutes 21 seconds of aggressive flying. Re. CG issues, I found the forward trim characteristics shot to hell, the 800G displayed pronounced spontaneous forward movement. It does wonders for forward speed but it really affects backward movement. I added 2.5 grams of led bird shot to the tail and that did the trick as far the auto forward movement. It has only flown 3 times since the battery upgrade and I haven't observed any other problems. Will keep reporting.

Look at the photo of my tan S800g above for proper orientation.
I've done this before (forgot which set was which on a co-ax) so scratched a 'T' into the bottom of one of my top blades when I took them off for painting...

Bummer. Where did you buy it?
For sure they should replace it without any cost to you.

Well gentlemen... who in here think that Hobby-eStore is a serious store? Wrong!!!

They sent to me a S800G that is not working and now, my options are: buy another one for "only" US$ 50 (shipping included) or send mine to them and pay the shipping (US$ 30-40) to receive a new one!

Be careful! That is how Hobby-eStore works and treats its customers.

That's terrible, especially since you took the trouble to put a video of the issue (which isn't one I've ever seen caused by a crash) on youtube.

I've edited my previous post to delete the link to that vendor.

My suggestion (no help to you I realize) would be to purchase this from Amazon, in my experiences they stand behind faulty products, even those sold through other vendors on the site. The S800g is now $33 there:

Sorry you got screwed....

Kurt, thanks for all the support.

Before buy another heli, I will try to fix this one, probably replacing the suspicious motor or, who knows, the PCB.
