So to convert to S, 8 and 12 need a module, but 6 and 7 don't?

OK I bit the bullet and ordered the chip upgrade from ehirobo and the CTL01-D from oomodel.
I'm rolling the dice on this but what I can figure the CTL01-D is a stand alone unit that should bind with the upgraded DEVO 8. I have bound two RX's at once so it can be done.
I ran the update tool on my DEVO 8 and it worked fine using the standard non "S" files. Hopefully it will update to the "S" series after I install the chip.

If it works my next concern will be the range, I would like to install this in a plane also and it may not have the power to connect a long distance.

I will post when I receive them. It will imagine about 4 weeks.

If I understand the CTL01-D Telemetry specs that was posted on the first page of this thread, it says the CTL01-D Telemetry Module transmitter power is <= 100 mW

If that is correct, 100 mW = 20 dBm

As a comparison: the Devo 8S TX is spec'd to transmit from -5 to +20 dBm (0.3 to 100mW)

If that is correct, the CTL01-D Telemetry Transmitter puts out the same amount of power as the Devo 8S TX.

The range of their communication will also depend on their antennas, and RX sensitivities. Both the RX-802 and Devo 8S are spec'd to have -105 dBm sensitivity, and the RX-802 and CTL01-D appear to have about the same type of antenna, so I imagine you will loose range with the RX (RX-802) about the same range as the Telemetry (CTL01-D) Module.

Edit: original -20 dBm Devo 8S TX output power was "pulled" from Wowhobbies specifications which is erroneous

Just received the module and updated my Devo 12 to Devo 12S.

Interestingly, I ordered a 8S module, but the package I received was labelled 12S module! Maybe the folks at hobbyone somehow recalled my emailing them and picked the "right" module?

Anyhow, the 8S upgrade instructions are basically useless for performing a 12S upgrade ... many more screws, bolts, and panels need to be removed on the 12S, but nothing too tricky if you are comfortable pulling electronics apart and putting them back together again.

I received my module also today.

If you look in the 12 manual its easily explained how to open the TX.

I think i will start now

Did the software upgrade everything is ok.
Big Big problem i bought with the radiomodule the telemetry module WK-CTL01-D.

How do you wire it in the fancy plastic box there is no manual wiring diagram nothing.

One of you guys can explain how to get started with it .

How to wire and start using the damn thing

Explain what you have tried so far.
The first page of this thread shows what wires go where.
The one in the lower right side should be RX power.
Post your progress.

I think you might be correct.

The first page of this thread shows the WK-CTL01-D Telemetry Module's symbolization indicates lower right terminals are for POWER; however, the side "explanation" states "measuring connector of operating current and voltage". As usual, the explanation is probably incorrect; however the design (symbolization) is correct. Although, I haven't understood why 3 terminals are required for Power connection.

Edit: Later learned third "POWER" terminal is used as a signal terminal for binding Walkera Telemetry Module CTL01-D to RX802.

Also, what is the purpose of the top right terminals above the GPS terminals? They aren't symbolized.

Typical Walkera. Who knows what that terminal is for.

This thing is a option for the UFO-MX400, but it doesn't show it installed anywhere. A close look at the UFO-Mx400 receiver and speed controller does not have any wires or plug that would fit the upper right terminal. It is 6 prong, the RX and speed controller have a 7 prong connecting them together.

The module is suppose to plug into the RX the same as servo does. This would power it up at the same time as the RX, hopefully binding with the TX at the same time.

This sounds good.............. but it also could be a waste of money knowing Walkera..........unless someone with a working WK-CTL01-D could kindly post some info.

Hello Guys.

Its working 4Temp sensorswhy. The 2 voltage are useful things.

The master voltage connector is also ok it shows the voltage of your RX battery.
If you using a separate Bec like on my 700.

The rest i have to figure out yet how it works with my 550 ho dos not have a separate bec

It binds immediately that's no problem

Where can you buy the GPS and connector. And how do you make(ore buy) the connections for the rate 1&2 i think this are for the rpm reading.
