Align 550E to 600 upgrade and scale aerodyne UH-1N conv

I've got a Trex Align 550e 3G V1 that i'm going to convert to a 600 and then make scale. The plan at this stage is to use aerodyne's 600 UH-1N.

Now at the moment I'm using 6s 5000mah 30-40c batteries and the 550 is completely stock. What i'm wondering is if ill get away with running the longer boom and 600 blades and scale fuze on the same batt config?

Another option is to run 2 of the 6s 5000mah batt together to regain some of the lost flying time with the scale shell?

Or drop the 6s and go to 10s-12s and then I'm guessing ill need to upgrade the speed controller and motor?

Any suggestions, experience, feed back all welcome! Keep in mind that this scale fuze is a monster at just under 1.5m long and the plan is to option it with scale lighting and cockpit flight crew and load master eventually!

Cheers

Andrew

Running at scale-type headspeeds going to something bigger than 6S will have marginal benefits. My vote is for just getting something like a 890kv motor to slow the headspeed down and enjoy. The size of battery will ultimately depend on how the heli balances out with the fuselage, I guess you'll just have to see how that works out before making a decision regarding that.

FWIW, I'm planning on running a .60 size scaler using my converted T550 with 713mm blades on 6S, initial hovering tests shows not too bad current draw on 6S.

Thanks sideways! I hadn't thought of slowing the head speed and a different motor for that! Showing my greenness as far as helicopters go!

Guess I should do some more research into scale Head speeds and how that affects performance and handling! I hadn't really given that any though even though I had run across several post talking of scale head speed!

Cheers

Pinions are cheaper than motors. If you want to reduce head speed, that's the place to start.

So true...I made my recommendation based on the 550 pinion scheme. I believe the 600's run much smaller pinions, now that's easy to slow it down

hmmm ok I'll look into changing the pinion and also a different blade setup! This advice is really appreciated as I live in HK and get little help from the LHS and just fly by myself

Cheers
