2 X 6 first flight after 11 year build

My son flew his 2 X 6 for the first time today. The kit was a Christmas present in 2000, when he was 13. All the components were built within a month, but it got shelved during high school, etc. He dusted it off last week, and finished covering and assembling it. It flies great! What a way to start the new year!

You can be proud of him. He had the perserverience to see the project through to the maiden. Good job, well done.

Bob in Seattle,

Thanks! I am quite proud of him. It was quite gratifying to watch him fly the 2X6. I took first him to the flying field when he was two days old!

That was his first landing. Only bush in a 500 foot radius and he nailed it! Some things you can't teach. (sigh...)

Go easy on him. He's a rookie. My Dad did it with a Piper Cub (full scale) and two trees. Until the day he died, he insisted that he did it to stop the plane cause the brakes were out.

congrats on the (delayed) first flight!

Yes, Thanks for the pictures!

My very late re-entry into RC gliders was a few years ago with a HOB "2x4" and that plane has taught me countless things. I still fly it once in awhile for good memories now that I have planes that out perform it, but it's still a nice handling plane.

I'm thinking of making a new 70-78 inch wing and bigger rudder for it just so I can really float it on dead air days but still have the smaller original wing for those rare occassions I fly a slope.

Good planes to begin with.

Nice job building and covering too from what I can see.
