Uwe, please post some design specs for Snap on the Nurflugel forum. Wing loading, structure, dimensions, airfoils. 204 mph is VERY impressive for a chevron... it must be very rigid.

Did you travel to the US for some DS flying or did you send the Snap by mail?

Hi Ed,

this is a comercial wing that Peter Wick designed for the swiss company "Insider Modellbau" : https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...ew-flying-wing

I was able to buy a used one from Austria as addidional Christmas present to me

Wing span is 2,04 m / 80"
Flying weight at my video ist 1660 g / 58 oz

The pilot at the Weldon-video is Bruce Tebo, I had nothing to do with this flight, except knowing the video link through Peter Wick

Cheers,

Uwe.

Change that to MANY thanks. I have what I need to make a rough version of Snap, including the quality videos for inspiration.
Time to put planks on hold for a bit and get back to chevrons... or arrows.

Hi Ed,

I designed a similar chevron in 2012, it is called "Marumba"
Marumba is not so fast as the SNAP, but a little better in thermal....but that depends on the weight.
Target weight for the Marumba is 1500 g, span is 2 m.

Snap flies with 10,5 % static margin, Marumba with 7,5-8 % sm.

Marumba has no rounded nose and the winglet airfoil can be a flat plate, this makes it easyer to build without molds.

Here you can find the data of Marumba: https://www.thermik-board.de//viewto...p=19887#p19845

Now, after the SNAP, I have flown both arrows and can recommend the Marumba for the positive construction methods

This Marumba at the videos is a light version with 1300 g at mild conditions:

(2 min 32 sec)

(3 min 55 sec)

(1 min 41 sec)

Regards,

Uwe.

Uwe, when I used "rough version" of Snap, I meant ROUGH! That means no rounded center section, hotwire-cut EPS foam cores, no molds. So it would have looked more like a Marumba anyway.

Back in 2013, I made a few of a series called "Breakdancer". They were a lot of fun!

It's time to get back to arrows... thanks again for the inspiration!
