Rick, order placed, it will be awhile before I am ready to fly, but thanks for the feedback and info, I think this is the direction to go. :-)

I picked up this motor from my LHS:
http://www.multiplex-rc.de/en/produc...b7e2c04a6f69d0 I also added a 7x4E prop and a 6.5x5.5 prop. I have tested the 7x4 on the bench yesterday and it pulled 12amps WOT. I'll try it out on the field this weekend and maybe try the 6.5x5.5. There is definately a size difference between the 60amp plush esc and the 35amp align one Looks a lot cleaner now I'll post pics once I have my ezosd mounted in there... still puzzling where to put it |

Air venting cut/sanded (used a shallow V cut with scalpel, then sanded out with paper wrapped around scalpel handle)
Also ported side vent, and rounded off the central bulkhead to improve flow. I'll probably dig out a matching GF/CF tube to support the tunnel. |

The Flypoppa Mk1 removable tailplane
Lousy weather so what can I do? I know I will build the EZ* that I got for Xmas. It will be my third one that I have, but this one is the all white version.
I have seen that the MK2 has a removable tailplane. That would be different for this build. I have seen what others have done with a nylon nut & bolt, but looking at the project I came up with this idea. A short length of fibre rod glued in the front of the tailplane that fits into a piece of plastic tube glued into the body. Then a piece of flat plastic glued into the tailplane with a hole drilled in it. A plastic rawplug glued into the end of the body and a screw. Well these pictures will give you the idea.. Note the larger rudder. |

I like that forward pin - could be useful on the II if the regular removal and movement of the tailplane makes it sit too loosely.

I like the idea but would rather have someone else beta test it. Have you tried this mod yet and how does it stand up? Vince |

What will you use to join the snake to elevator? Eh, what did you do that for, remember it's a trainer, remember it's an electrically assisted glider, there's no need for a larger rudder, it's all a novice's fallacy due to the model travelling in moving air, the EasyStar does not lack rudder authority, only cretins make the rudder bigger, what a waste of time, etc etc etc blah blah blah zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!! PS How many gyros are you fitting?? <runs & hides> |

As for the beta test, someone has to be the first. |

As for the connection of the control rod to the elevator. I have given it some thought, and decided I shall use the usual supplied fitting, and see how that goes. I have had enough experience with this model to realise that in the glide, the stock rudder does not have enough authority for my 'slow' gliding. (Why has the MK2 got a bigger rudder?) I have not finished the build yet but I shall give a full report of the test flights with video. GYROS... How very dare you. |

We knew it was coming
The Chinese New Year that is. I didn't realize they split up worker groups for vacation. Manufacturing has been celebrating since 1/18
HobbyKing_Admin View Drop Down Dealer (US) USERID: 731618 Forum Admin Forum Admin Let the mayhem begin! It happens every year, without fail. Order backlog increases and the support ticket level goes through the roof. Heres what you need to know to avoid wondering why your parcel hasn't shipped or why support hasn't replied. Chinese New Year is the longest and most important festivity in the Chinese calendar. The 2012 Chinese New Year holiday period affects HobbyKing.com in the following manner. 18/01 ~ 31/01 : Manufacturing holidays Most factories and related services are closed, this affects re-stocking and warranty. 21/01~28/01 : Courier and customs closures Borders are either closed or so backlogged that parcels usually don’t pass from our backend warehouse to frontend warehouse during this period. Large boxed items will generally not ship during this period. 22/01~26/01 : Hong Kong Public Holiday A general public holiday for staff in Hong Kong. Admin and management staff will take holidays. A small group of Customer Service staff will operate during this period focusing primarily on live-chat. 18/01~15/02 : General Shipping delays Expect delays in order shipping as well as delayed responses to support requests. Foreign warehouses will be operating normally during this period. I was trying to place orders with other Chinese retailers and I guess the parts I really need will be here in March. |

At least the HK Admin. didn't tell us when the army takes it's holiday!
Funny how they split it up. Lots on BK, well no wonder. I need some flybarless heli stuff among other things. I'm not paying today. For a March delivery. The technology will have changed! Todd |
