Sorry if the post was a little misleading, but that wasn't my video, and the channel didn't seem to have any test footage.

Or it happened badly, lol. I've had a couple of moments with crazy test runs where I was like, "Let's please pretend I never mentioned it..."

Still, it does look like a pretty cool thing to try.

On reason ailerons are so effective is the placement out on the wings. The further out they are, the more roll control you get. Lever effect. There is probably no test flight footage becaus they didn't work very well, if at all. Now if they were slaved as an elevator canard they would be very effective for super tight loops and inverted flight. But would needs that on an easystar. Oh well, at least he tried something.

Lol I caught a copy of that via e-mail... Gotta love autocorrect, right? It did a real number on your post, haha. :-)

Elevator slaved canards indeed would be a cool thing to see... but like you said I can't imagine actually needing them on a plane like that. All it would really do is impress the nerd friends in the group and add needless weight to the nose.

I made this video of local floods yesterday from my EasyStar 1. I also had the gorpo mounted on top of one of those GS-1 gyro servos to see if it smooths out some of the sideways movement, which I think it did - it was pretty cool to be able to look sideways also.

Very nice video and some smooth flying good choice of music too. I wish my videos came out that smooth I think the wide angel lens helps. I'll bear your flying site in mind next time I'm in York. I know its being picky but you might want to slow down the panning.

RCFlyingUK,

very nice indeed, the air seems silky smooth - thanks for sharing!

Did you get any adverse effects / comments on flying over too close to urban areas? (Not that I think you do, or that the weight of an EasyStar poses a real threat to anything larger than a hedgehog).

Hope the water is reseding!

Why so serious?

Hello all.
It's December and getting close to the near year. This is the time of year we generally vote in a new thread starter and that poor smuck has to create a new thread for 2013, copy over all the links from page one (most are out dated) and I close this one.
The way I see it there are 3 things that can happen.

1. Vote in a new thread starter and let him create and maintain the 2013 thread and I close this one on December 31, 2012.

or..

2. Leave this one as is and let it go on another year.

or..

3. The world will end on December 21, 2012 and all this will be irreverent to most of you. Of course I will survive as I have survived 35 years of marriage with my wife so something as mundane as a direct asteroid strike on my house would be nothing more then a minor inconvenience for a few days.

So let me know what Ya'll wanna do...(southern talk)

All opinions are welcome

Either one of the first two options is good, IMHO. Option #3 is irrelevant because Iron Man III isn't due out till next spring, so therefore the world can't end until mid 2013 anyways. One could reasonably argue that since we'll only need to endure half of 2013, there's little point in starting a new thread.

If a new thread is created, it should, again IMHO, continue in the "EasyStar I & II" vein since there are still a lot of EasyStar I's in use, and owners of those will feel really displaced if we assumed that everyone's flying a II now.

I would vote to let it continue as it is and let the present smuck continue to navigate it.
35 years. HA! Next Sunday we have got 50 years together. And I am still allowed to spend the kids inheritance on models.

You asked for it. I vote that you be kept in slavery one more year, MINIMUM. That counts for your marriage AND this thread. :-)
