My only other RC is an mSR X. Looking forward trying the DX6i on it.

They're covered with WHAT??? How can they be covered with silicon? I don't think I even know what silicon looks like, is it like sand (silica) ?

Oh, you must mean silicone ! As in silicone rubber! I get it now. <- for the humor impaired.

I make quad pieces.

Headlight for my MQX

I found an old Laser pointer that also had a LED. Attached it to the mqx and was surprised at how bright it is. My droid camera did not like it much.

BNF - very sensitive to controls

Thanks to all of you for your inputs to my question. I understand a little better why it does what it does.

turboparker - you mentioned an "undocumented" method of activating preprogammed expo on the RTF tx. Would you elaborate further on this?

I have only the RTF tx to use for this machine. I also have a Futaba Skysport 6A, but that is on 72 mhz, not 2.4ghz. Hmm, maybe convert this to 2.4 ghz! Would that help?

pgoelz - you mentioned in one of your posts balancing the props. I don't see how this can be accomplished since the prop hub is not a consistent diameter all the way through.

If you use a 2mm rod, it will fit the smaller hole in the end of the prop snugly and allow the prop to be balanced. I have a magnetic balancer and made a 2mm steel rod for it a while ago, to balance small heli blades and tail blades. I find that 2mm is the right size for many small balancing tasks.

Why are you, people, using the laser pointer?

Dave,

The expo feature was discussed in one of the UM threads. Unfortunately, I don't remember which one. I suggest searching the UM fixed-wing & mCP X threads. From what I remember, the amount of expo was relatively small, so it won't make a big difference in feel. Maybe someone else will chime-in with the details.

Regarding your tx - there is no easy (or US-legal) means of converting it to Spektrum 2.4 GHz (remember - the various 2.4 GHz spread-spectrum systems are not compatible with each other). If you want to stay with Futaba, you'll need a module-based tx, such as the 10C. Otherwise, the DX6i would be a good choice for an entry-level programmable tx - if you plan to buy more Spektrum-equipped BNF/RTF aircraft.

Good one! I think all that solution is big like the whole mQX motor.
We want bigger and you show us smaller?

enjoy,

We have no idea how much the replacements are on that copter or how often the burn out. Also how much do the Tx cost?

Nice little bird but too many unknowns.

There were a lot of unknowns with the mQX when it first hit the market.
It was only after time (and I'd bought one) that the motor problem became apparent, and NO I haven't killed a motor yet, but I'm careful. I keep my flights short and my motors lubed with a special NATO silicone free gun oil. No point me suggesting it, most people will never find it.

While the Walkera ladybird is an unknown it is the first viable alternative small quad out there.
http://www.oomodel.com/walkera-qr-la...r-p-62658.html
Price RTF (devo 2404d TX) $129.80 (vs $170 for the blade)
spare motor and arm set $6.40
4 prop set $3.36
Board $44.80
Battery $4.86

I'd say for price RTF is good and spares slightly cheaper then the mQX.
At least it gives a choice of mini quads now.

Shirley, you jest!

I wouldn't pay a nickle for ANYTHING Walkera produced. I know some like their products, but I've been bitten before, won't do it again. It does, however, show that the quad market is heating up.
