WD-40 is too thin to be a good bearing lube so I would only use it on the top so it wicks into the brush area. And I am not representing it as the best solution.... just one that works for me and is readily available. There are likely better lubes out there for brushes but A) I don't have any and B) unless they are very thin like WD-40, it may not be possible to get any into the motor unless you have the version with holes in the end bell.

FWIW, my RF motor that began to fail very early on and was treated a couple times with WD-40 continues to run perfectly. In the mean time, my LR motor (that also showed early signs of failing and was WD-40 treated as well) began to run with consistently lower power than the other motors, causing a left lean on liftoff. It was also causing more than the usual instability when recovering from an upset. I finally replaced it with the motor HH sent me when the RF motor began to fail and all is well once again.

The next CW motor that fails will get replaced with a CCW motor just for grins. Anyone else tried that?

+1

I did the same after watching my first Jello-filled mQX on-board video. Worked like a charm.

I used Deox-it available at Radio Shack on two motors that had failed. One fly's perfectly now and other is in the trash can. My motors had holes in the endbell and I just let it rip, drained used a little air and aways she went. Both failures were on CW and HH replaced both, those failed also. HH knows something is going on kid on the phone said it could be a board issue. That was on my second call. It was like talking to my teenage kids so I just let it go. I am on my fourth motor on CW so something is up for sure. The motors that fail run at a higher temp and show odd signs on spool-up and spool-down. Way to much fun to quit now.

What are you using for a camera? Your video looks a heck of a lot better than what I am getting off of a keychain cam.

This keychain cam on the left(I got 2) leaves a lot to be desired.
The second one I got a couple of years ago. Back then it was expensive but its cheap today.
It takes "good enough" videos in the air and have used it tons of times. I was hoping to get a key chain cam that would come close so I could mount it easier.. Notice I split my
visual aid and mounted them on the motor cages.
