I can verify that switching the right front motor with the back left motor will not fix a non-working motor. But I called Horizon and they did me good! Their customer service is top notch.
However they sent me the wrong motor which was CCW and not CW so it had blue/red wires not black/white wires. Easy fix as I just plugged it in "backwards" on the plug so the green paint DID NOT match. Works great. I am wondering if the motor QA issue is just with the CW motors and not the CCW motors? If that is the case, you can just run CW motors and switch the plug around. I will post back if my right front goes out again after about 20 flights. |

Just a quick note - My recently purchased MQX, about two weeks ago and about a dozen flights, began to show the front CCW motor not working right. It would start after the others and stop sooner just like the common motor failure routines noted in this forum. Looking closely and slowly turning the prop, I felt some binding as the large gear rotated. Upon closer observation, I saw that the large gear was rotating out of plane. As the gear was in a high contact with the motor gear, the rotation was smooth. As the large gear was in low contact, there was some binding. I removed the large gear and just put it back on. It rotated in a flat plane and the binding went away. Now all props start and stop the same.

Question.
If the 808 #11 weighs 18 grams how much of that is the 250mAh battery? Visually I'd estimate it as being a bit more then half the gross weight. Has anyone tried running their #11 off of their main power feed? Would/does it cause noise? I'm wondering if soldering another JST off the bottom of the board as a power feed for the camera could save some weight. Could also shave a little more as it wouldn't need a micro USB slot to charge the battery. Plus the JST could power lights when I'm not hauling the camera. |

Ona a side note, I haven't tried it with a brushless motor. |

For maximum efficiency the armature current should be at max when the poles are directly over the magnets. Because of armature inductance, the current does not rise immediately when the commutator switches. For this reason brushed motors are usually (but not always) set with their brushes leading the magnets so that by the time current reaches max the poles are directly over the magnets. If the motor is reversed, the brushes are lagging, causing high currents and inefficient operation. The stock MQX motors have their brushes set at different angles depending on whether they are clockwise or counter-clockwise rotation. |

The answer to the question no one was asking: how does the Blade mQX do on the slope?

I have had my mQX for a couple weeks now. Got it stuck on top of one of my buildings at work, lost the canopy, ran it into everything in the office I could with the RTF controller, and several attempts to go a few yards underground. Having read this thread I'm using a McDonald's ice cream lid as a cover, ordered an 808 camera and Hyperion batteries, and learned a bit. I'm in the queue to pick up a whitespy quad and am looking for a trainer A/C... but that's a different thread. |

Sorry about the lack of info in the video. the green, and orange props are made by Gemfan. At the time I knew of only one place to find them, Flitelab (sold exclusively within Canada, to Canadians.....?????), but now I have found them at Blueskyrc.com, just remember they do need some modding to work. Best of luck!
They look great and perform fine, but for tight flips indoors, stay with the stock rotors. Check it out!

Alright, please let us in on how you do those low flips and rolls.
