Hobby King not shipping until January?

I just "chatted" with Hobby King about an order placed a week ago that is still in "reserved" status. I asked when it was going to ship and was told "It will be shipped out after the holidays". When I asked for when all I got was "January".

Has anyone else seen their orders from the last few weeks ship? Is this typical of Hobby King, or should I cancel the order?

I placed my order right before their "holiday shutdown" apparently its taking the "every possible country route" to the US. I got an estimate of 3 weeks! so you will probably get your stuff that ships in jan before mine that shipped last week

I thought they don't celebrate Christmas over there. Even US companies don't shut down entirely, just take a few days off.

But that's in Feb or March.

Most likely they are just too busy/successful and falling behind.

It is actually Jan. 23 2012. I was thinking it was sooner, but mainly wanted to make everyone aware that there is a week long shutdown during that time. I would guess current delays are due to seasonal business for those who celebrate Christmas. It is also my understanding that due to the world wide sluggish economy that most Asian companies are maintaining minimal inventory and have minimal staff.

I made two orders last week, a few days apart, the Mini Mig-15 and the 50mm T-33. They each shipped exactly 3 days after the Paypal order processed. No worries from me and I still giove high marks for HobbyKing for value and quality. Their models aren't the best quality like E-Flite or ParkZone but for the bargain price and near equal flying experience, it's very good value.

I just tried putting in a $340.00 order and the shipping in 71 bucks, since when did they start charging so much? Last time i ordered, about 7 months ago shipping was about 30 bucks and i thought that was high.

That was actually cheap. Try $47 shipping on $113 order. What a rip off in the name of a bargain.
Oh yeah, After 10 days it is finally on it way to Hong Kong warehouse.

I think much depends on the package size, not just weight. Just for grins put a certain value of small items in your cart and go to checkout and see what it will cost. Clear your cart then do the same value with something larger like an aircraft and see how it compares.
