Is all this tip work really necessary? I thought maybe I'd just do a patch of glass on the tip to make it last longer.

overlayed some CF cloth on top and bottom.
The peg is extremely secure in the wing tip and should never come loose or rip out.

Certainly not required to do all that work on the tip.


Ever have to repair a throwing blade in a foam wing? I have.
Much easier to overbuild it than to repair it.

I look at it this way... There was a 50/50 chance I'd loosen up the peg over time.
I'd rather overbuild it and know I'll never have to fix it and that I can throw the plane as hard as I can.

Haha, well then...I have a girlfriend, but she a hair stylist. No help. lol so what width tape?

And makes sense, I'll do what I can to beef it up in my own way.

I used 1/2" tape.
1/4" on each side is plenty.

My plane is done except for finishing up the surface ends of the pushrods. I'll do that this evening and post pics of the finished plane after that.

Got mine this morning, everything looks fantastic, and can't wait to start the build later today! Bob finished the wing for me before it was shipped, and it's gorgeous. Definitely going to only do a partial trim scheme....the wood is really pretty.

Wow, your color scheme is breathtaking-even I could see that in the air. Do you have any idea how much weight the covering added? It would be helpful to know-it sure would be less time consuming than 4 coats of polycrylic and less likely to ding up too-it looks beautiful-good job. I can't wait to see what color schemes other people come up with. Let me know how it flies.Bob M.
