love to fly, hate to crash
John.G's Avatar
Just ordered one of these and plan of putting in a Eflite 370 motor and use either 5 gram servos or 9 gram servo's. I have both 2 and 3 cell 1000mah so I will try and see which is best for weight as well as with which prop. I have used this motor in a couple other types of planes with both 2 & 3 cell packs and it works for heavier scaled planes. Anything I should watch for as well what might be my best choice of props to start with. John

i would also like to know whats the best prop for the 2612 1900kv motor. Ive been running the GWS 8x4 but have been told these are a direct drive prop and should get a lighter one.

So what prop is best for this plane?

thanks

Glow? What is that?
I used a APC Style 8x4 from HK on 3cell 1000mah.

They are just that ugly funny colour.....

yeah i have some of those apc style 8x4's but the nut is to big in the middle and the rubber band only just goes over it and keeps coming off.

Any chance of a picture of how yours is mounted please?

thanks

actually i just weighed the apc style prop and its double the weight of the GWS dd 8x4 prop so I dont know why you would use that one.

Im going to try my reaktor on a 1000mah 3s nanotech this arvo if the wind dies down.

I actually have two TGY 8x3.8 slow fly props on the way so they should be a little better.

I like the 8040 Direct Drive the best with the 1900KV motor on 3S. Without some sort of adapter I don't think you are going to get the GWS slow fly props on that motor hub. Most of the other brand slow fly props are heavier than the 8040.

the GWS DD 8x4 weighs about 6g.

I have two TGY 8x3.8 slow fly props on the way. They came with a few adaptors so it should fit. Just not sure how much they weigh.

I have centered all my servos again so the plane shouldnt require any sub trim or trim. Ill see how it flies on a 3s 1000mah nanotech with the 2612 1900kv on a gws dd 8x4. Ive had someone tell me its way to tail heavy to maybe the heavier lipo will balance her out and also give her more punch.

Its a bit windy now but im hoping it will die down later and I will have a chance to fly it.

The GWS props are flimsy and flex way too much at 200watt power.
The motor came with a black plastic adapter thingy that I stuck on the front cap of the motor and then simply select the correct adapter ring to fit. Easy

I agree the GWS slow fly props are flimsy and I wouldn't push them to much beyond 100w. The direct drive props are fine, I use the 10" on planes as much as 200w-220w. As I recall in my testing the T2006 1900KV motor (2612 1900kv is a clone of it) pushes about 120w or so on 3S with the 8040HD prop and closer to 78w with 2S and a 9" prop. I'll have to dig up my numbers to be sure, but those are ballpark.

I believe the reaktor with a 1000mAh 3S battery will fly more like a sport plane than a 3D plane. I flew 440-460 3S packs in my Mini Tempo.

My Reaktor flies with a APC Style 8x4.

Whether it is Reduction Drive or Direct Drive, I am not a fan of the GWS Props.
Just my opinion.

Enjoy ur Reaktors!

sorry my bad blizards, I didnt see your above post stating that you used apc style 8x4 props.

I took my reaktor out yesterday and used the 3s 1000mah nanotech lipo and WOW. It was so much better. This was with the GWS DD 8x4 prop. Had way more power and was way better to fly. Handled like it was on rails.

It was a bit nose heavy but was very predictable in flight. Still would like a little more power out of her. Tried a vertical climb and she got to a certain point and ran out of puff.

I just found a true APC 9x3.8 slow fly prop. I think I will cut it down slightly and try this prop with the 1000mah nanotech 3s. Hopefully the apc will give it some more punch.

This was the best flight I have on film. This was only with a zippy 500mah 20c 3s. You can see that its tail heavy. Still flies pretty good.

Im really starting to love this plane even more and more every time I fly it. Once I get it flying well I can start learning true 3d on it.

I want to get the techone katana EPO next. Do you think this would be a good step up from the reaktor/mini tempo?

Mini tempo was probably my favorite plane from TechOne. I haven't flown the Katana, but I have most the other TO 3D full airfoil planes. I like the Venus a lot too. I only have one flight video of me flying the mini tempo and it was from last year. This is with the T2006 1900KV motor, 8040HD prop and 440 3S Pro Packs.

very nice flying.

Also your plane is very light at only 249 grams. But flies very nicely.

I have been flying for about 4 or 5 years now but usually just mess around and sport fly but I really want to start to learn 3d plane flight now.

Mabye i need some higher C rating lighter lipos and my plane will fly great.

I will try it with the cut down apc 9x3.8 on the 3s 1000mah nanotech first and see how it flies and take it from there.

I really need to watch some more 3d learning videos and spend more time on the sims.

I really enjoy flying my planes and have allot of fun doing so. So thats what its all about but I would just like to be able to do some more technical maneuvers for some more fun.
