Too funny bro,

Here is a little differant perspective how it may look with a canopy frame and canopy. It then starts to take on more of the T-38 look.

Alright nuff playin' around time to get back to work I have stabs to make.

Hi, falcon5! Impressive fleet you got there.

A bit off topic; just wanted to confirm which BAE Hawk you got. And if that's the AMD one, did you replace the intake ducts?

Naa it's just the Flyfly Hawk, stock all the way around except I put elevators on it instead of the flying stab. Best flying plane I own so far.

i think you may have been ok with your old stabs, but i feel youll be better off with the pivot farther forward. good save. looks soooo good man. you building my talon juices up....keep going!

its already started. i posted pics early in the thread. i just have been working alot, so time on this project has been minimal. my completion goal is for october.

OK, wasn't sure. I havent read the entire thread, just the first few pages a while back and I started tracking it about page 35-ish. Wish I lived on the west coast and could see these things fly! I might start a similar one sometime in the next year, but an F-16C instead. If I can get a job over the summer that is.

Well wing man good save on you.

Well here is what I see so far. If I put the pivot point at 20% MAC it goes 6.13 inches back from the leading edge. A full 1.9 inches forward from where it is now.

Whatcha think?

Cool to see the BAHawk in a model. I have a few hours on the real thing back in the late seventies. Very nice and stable platform. Congrats on the big one. Excellent job.

I don't want to throw another wrench in, but I got a chance to find some close ups of the stab on the full size. It looks like your origional location is close to scale, about the 1/2 chord at the root.

Looks like the "full size scale" rotation torque tube location seems to be a bit forward of the leading edge at the outer tip of the stab. Andy's first stab looks like the pin rotation point is right at the stab tip leading edge (old stab is a bit behind the scale location), the new stab is just a slight bit forward of scale location. I'm completely shutting up now

Maybe a little late to the "flutter party" but I'm not sure everyone is on the same page about flutter on these flying elevators. I don't think his pivot point has anything to do with flutter but more about servo strength as he could have mass balanced the old pivot point easily. With the new pivot point he will need much more weigh up front to get the elevator CofG nearer the pivot point.
