I think it would be worth running a turbine in, for the weight savings and extra performance. If you can plop an extra cell or two in, great, but I think the sound of a real turbine would complete the package.

Also I retract and amend my previous statement about retracts...All of them are a PITA now

ANDY! WELL DONE in keeping with the build and methodically going through the initial challenges. Well done to many here on RCG too with all those great suggestions and good technical observations. Really have enjoyed all the posts, I think Andy's build got all of us thinking and maybe dreaming up separate projects ourselves we've been wanting to do.

This thing lifted off like a butterfly! The scale presence is just perfect too.

I think this model will fly great with two more cells. I'm a turbine guy myself in addition to being an EDF guy - but I really think this model would be a nice EDF after some more optimization. While a turbine would fly it great an EDF T-38 would be special in it's own right.

Every once in a while a modeller achieves something out of the ordinary, that advance our hobby in a significant fashion. What you did today will one day be looked upon as one such leap forward. You should be real proud of your achievement!

... or as already, well put - freaking awesome!

we need a in depth report wingman
Thanks guys!!! Everyone on this build thread is part of the crew!!! it was great to spend the last 6 months with each and every one you.

Wingman: Your wings and horizontal stab along with your CG calculation were spot on. !!! I hear in the video a couple of trim tab beeps but I think I was just fine tuning the trim as it appeared to not need any..rare for my maidens.

Yeah I contemplated roller her and cycling the gear, but my gut said for the first flight being under powered and all to just let her ride.

Handling: Has to be flown to be believed, super rock steady but responds like a sports car and goes where you point it. I remember you coined a phrase once "Fly's like it's rails have rails" I would use that term here.

Landing: I brought her in with no flaps and carrying a little more speed than I needed and still it floated right in, I would imagine a notch of flap and she would walk in. Flair out is smooth and with a little practice I think one could kiss the runway so soft the pilot wouldn't know he was on the ground.

We got us a real winner here wingman and if I can put a few more thousand watts to mine and with yours in the 30 pound region with 9000 watts, formation flying is gona be sweeeeet!!!!
