Ahh the old Gyro vs Tip weight debate, I have neither but don't think that makes me any better or worse than another pilot. As far as technology in models goes if you don't want them using Gyros, mabe they shouldn't be using expo or rates or mixes or any of the other technical advances we take for granted nowadays, maybe 2.4 or even 35 is a bit too modern, I started on 27mhz 30 years ago, but to be honest I find it a lot easier with high speed digital servos and digital radios than when I first took up sloping back in the 80's.

Just food for thought

I can't stand hydromatics. They shouldn't give licenses to people who drive them things.

Pete

Edit: BTW, my vario uses and upward moving arpeggio for rising air and a descending arpeggio for sink. The rate of the arpeggio is related to the strength of the lift or sink. Really nice, with a woman's voice announcing altitude every now and then as well as battery except that I had a regulator so I never got n
Battery warnings.

To expand on that thought, why use radio control? Real men would set up free flight gliders to make DS turns.

That's a bit harsh, Tom.

You surely realize that those opposing the use of gyros invariably speak with authority drawn from having no experience of one and ordinarily borrow their granite trannies from either Fred Flintstone or Barney Rubble.

The very idea that they enjoy flight modes, rates, exponential, etc!!

Very cultured & pleasant!
Next best thing to a concurrent b/j; albeit that would surely end in a crash.....

OK, I'm through hijacking this thread.

A gyro pilot:

oh dear - looks like this attachment made someone have a sense of humour failure after all. I've had to edit it with the reason given:

Nudity: image shows a part of the body normally covered by a bikini!!!

LMAO - somewhat missing the point!
