It's been one I've wanted to scratch build for years too, I have a set of plans,, but other things always get in the way

I'd do it with a small 4 stroke myself

I hear you,I never have build time these days. The first two years after I retired all I did was build and fly but now its nothing but ARFs and even then theres little time to put one together let alone fly. That will change this spring so hopefully Ill have this one ready to go by then. Merry Christmas to all. Brutus

The actual paint scheme was somewhat different , hexes of three different colours on upper surfaces , doped linen on underside of wings ( beighish ) and greyish blue on the sides and undersides of the fuselage and floats .

Yes,the infamous Lozenge covering! Lozenge covering is available from a couple of places if you want to spend the $ to recover. Id be happy just to be able to have the time to fly it as is. Now all they need to do is a Felixstowe so theres something to acompany it in the sky. Merry Christmas to all! Brutus

Here is mine , the camo is not the lozenge you were thinking of just simple hexes.

It flies very well loops , rolls , inverted , etc.

if you have not yet assembled a Maxford plane, you will be quite impressed. I would doubt there would be much substance to a build thread (unless making significant modifications) as there are generally only a few steps to assemble their models.

The planes I have built from Maxford are generally put together in an hour or two; it feels I spend more time on electronics install and programming than I do building the actual model...

First impressions are pretty good, only one little ding on the float, must have been from factory not shipping

I see a few things that would lighten up the airframe. The wing tubes and landing gear are heavy duty, thus heavy, The landing gear could be carbon fiber and the wing tubes thinner and still be plenty strong IMO.

Construction and covering looks pretty nice, the only things I see is they didn't sand the fuse sides smooth and it shows in the covering, the engine area isn't 100% symmetrical, doesn't look terrible, but you can see it.

Looks like you're right, should go together quick, but I'll document it anyway so guys who find the thread know what's involved and what to look for. I must say, so far I'm not impressed with the Manual.

Had to take a look at the skis, they're made from molded Bamboo about 4.5mm thick, don't look to have any waterproofing on the bottoms, I'll rub on some furniture oil when the time comes. No hurry if ya know what I mean.

Once again, they came double boxed,, not really necessary, but nicely protected from getting crushed in transport.

I'll start the assembly tonight,
