Your fast food burgers are so much bigger and better than ours. I never buy Macca's (MickeyD's) etc over here ... always terribly disappointing. But I got a Angus Chipotle something burger from Maccas near Parker, and was really impressed. Chris guffawed and said I needed to get a really good burger ... he mentioned a couple, including In and Out. I tried them all, and decided they were great, but not as good as the Macca's Angus thing!

The house I'm renting is almost across the road from the Brewery. Good memories of dinner and a really nice beer there with Asto and Sean. The only time I've had a black beer and really enjoyed it.

Only 21 sleeps to go!

I'm drinking a Kern River IPA right now. It's my last one. Time for a road trip.

Hey did you guys know that Patrick (The Weldon Rain Dance Man and holder of the Euro DS record) is the F5B World Champion or some such? I was skimming thru the usually boring newsletter from our association and it had a new section summarizing the key FAI events, and there was a pic of Patrick H working on his plane at the F5B Worlds! He's our hero!

Well, I tried. I couldn't get it out of my head wondering if I could shave enough weight off my old ply/ timber glider box to get it close to the double-wall coreflute one. My backyard exploded in a massive cloud of sawdust as I got a huge 7 1/4" sander, and a 100mm grinder, both fitted with the coarsest sanding discs you can get. Jade the Labrador headed for the kennel and stayed there and the neighbors retreated from the deck and shut the doors. Wielding the whining machines like a maniac I filled my hair with sawdust, coated my clothing, got sawdust in every orifice and behind my eyelids, coughed and snorted up lumps of yellow fuzz and took a chunk off the back of my thumb with an unforgiving spinning rock-covered disc, resulting in a sudden and ferocious verbal explosion of profanity. But bandaged with paper towel and masking tape, I attacked it again until the backyard was a criss-cross of thick lines of sawdust, tipped out of the box each time I rolled it over. I hacked, sanded, carved and gouged rugged bevels into every corner stringer and sanded almost 2 full layers off the 4mm ply. By the end I was worried about how thin the walls felt and how floppy the previously rigid box was feeling ... and the insides looked definitely ugly. My ears are still ringing.

... and the result was ... I only took 1.4kg off it!!! The coreflute box is 7.1 kg and the ply one is 9.1, so that's one riddle answered ... I am definitely taking the coreflute one!

Customs will be thankful anyway, because it only takes 6 or 8 screws to seal the hinged lid on the coreflute box whereas there were about 30 screws right around the ply lid!
