Hello guys!
I've been 'leaching' this topic for quite some time. It's impressive to see this dedication and friendlyness.
I'm using the #16 in a project that might just kick off at our University. Briefly, I'm using it as FPV video and audio recording. So I'm attaching the 808 to glasses.
The project combines this and a sensor unit, that senses body feedback. (Galvanic skin response).
It's open hardware, so I'm keeping the price low, and the 808 is just perfect!

Well, then I come the the question I'm having.
Is it possible to turn the lens 90? I've tried with the standard lens, but the 'wire' is too short. Can a longer one be ordered? I've also ordered a 808 #16 v2 (I'm hoping that that lens can be turned, but probably the build is almost identical to the #16's).
Thanks in advance!
TL;DR: can the lens be turned 90?

EDIT: searchfunction, I should use it more often.. It's not possible

There is pair of sunglasses with an 808 camera mounted in the frame

The ribbon cable from sensor to videoprocessor is too short and fragile to rotate through 90 degrees

The camera video processor can rotate the picture only by 180 degrees, this is not done by firmware written by the developer.
Rotating by 90 degrees in Firmware is not practicable (too computationally intense for the tiny prosessor, and would use up program space that the camera does not have), apart from the minor detail that the resultant rotated picture would be "9" wide by "16" high (the sensor is 16:9 aspect ratio.).
As Fishy said, you can rotate the picture by post processing in a video editor, resulting in the same tall and thin picture....

To add to what Mike said (for those who crave details):

The 180 deg. rotation is actually done by the controller embedded in the CMOS imager. It has a "rolling shutter" that normally reads the pixel array one horizontal line at a time, starting at the top LEFT corner and reading to the right going DOWN the array. By altering the starting corner point and the horizontal direction of the scan, the image can be flipped, making a mirror image. I.e., starting at the top RIGHT corner and scanning to the left DOWN the array produces a "flipped" HORIZONTAL mirror image. And starting at the bottom LEFT corner and scanning right UP the array produces a flipped VERTICAL mirror image. So by starting at the bottom RIGHT corner and scanning to the left UP the array produces BOTH a horizontally AND vertically mirrored image, which magically is identical to the original image ROTATED 180 deg., all with no additional time needed for the manipulation.

So, the camera actually does not do any (calculated) rotation at all. The rotated image from the CMOS imager is fed to the graphics processor chip which adds the date stamp in the lower left corner (if toggled on), just as if it were an upright image! So now you also know why the time stamp does not appear inverted in the upper right corner when the camera is toggled to capture rotated images (like it would if you rotated the image with an editor with post processing).

Does anyone know the Gunnar Tahlin deshaker add-on filter, for VirtualDub? What is the rolling shutter setting I must use in order to reduce the effect as much as possible? I have tried to follow the instructions to find out the correct number but I am at a loss :-(

That does make for nice images... sometimes unexpected.
.
I don't get the same thing from my 808s that do from my old Aiptek, the photo option on the 808 is too much of a guess to try to use.

Hello,

My 16 with th D lens has some dust/stuff on it.. Is there an approved method of cleaning the lenses? I tried cleaning the lens on my other A cam and ruined it, and don't want to repeat my mistake..

Much appreciated..

I’m thinking of buying my first keycam, I’m from the UK I’ve put this off for a long time, but I’m getting to the point where I just want to bite the bullet, I’ve read too much information (followed this thread on and off for the past few months!) hopefully I can do this hassle free I’m going to buy:

808#16 lens D from eletopline360 off ebay
Tecknet iEp300 3000maH battery (They’re similar to the Vaas 5000mAH I’ve seen suggested here.)
16gb micro sd card

I’ve read about the compatibility problems with higher class cards, but I’m still at a loss at which class is the most reliable, I appreciate there's no 'one works for all' answer.
