Y'all might want to stop calling the battery plug on this thing a 'Micro JST'.

It is NOT a Micro-JST connector. Real Micro-JSTs are 3 pin JST-ZH series plugs, as used for servo connections, on small micro receivers like the Spektrum AR6300. I was in this business when the AR6300's came out, they were the first to use them, and the name Micro-JST was immediately coined for the connector.

The connector being used on this camera is really a 2-pin Molex Picoblade, and is used as the battery connector on all the Parkzone 1S bricks, like the Vapor, AR6400, etc. It's the most popular 1S lipo connector around, so I understand why the manufacturer of this camera chose it. It's not even made by JST, it's Molex.

If you want to use a lipo with an MCP-X connector on it with this camera, I have an adapter available, made for planes, but will suit your purpose perfectly.

I understand there's vendors out there selling these things as "Micro-JST" and we probably can't fix that, but really, they aren't Micro-JSTs at all.

Yes, the battery was fully charged.

Camera is getting warm after 30 seconds of recording.
And after the last test it was HOT (firmware 0.15, 3min of recording and it hang\freezed with yellow light non-blinking). Like a cup of just boiled water.

Installed replacement lens module


I bought two replacement lens modules for the #16. They arrived today. The new lens module is installed and works well without even touching the focus. Night time video will be posted to Vimeo.

It seems to me your camera has a defect.

Maybe Out Flying

Hobbyzone Super Cub Crash


Installed the #16 camera v.18 on the Super Cub Friday morning and went for a quick flight. Good flight until the battery decided to hickup or die. Then down and donk, This is one little tough camera. It takes the hit and keeps on working.

Another test with my Camera:

\ firmware 0.15; battery full; Sandisk 4GB CL4 fresh-formatted. \

I connected it to phone mini-usb charger.
Started recording.
~10 min later Cam's LED lighted yellow non-blinking.
Camera was extremly HOT. i even catched plastic smell.
After that my Sandisk card has died
(not readable in Cam; i was able to mount it in card reader, but writing\formatting was not possible and read test was failing)
But i am still able to record 40-seconds movies on another flash cards.

is it battery problem or device itself?

I think device.
Can you measure the voltage? You need to measure several points on the board to do something more to diagnose. On the other hand can be seen that the camera has a defect. Maybe better to contact the seller and replace defective product.

I am pleased. One thing I did notice was lens flare with the halogen lights. I had previously opened up the case lens openting to reduce shrouding but it seems to expose the lens to lighting flares.

I didn't adjust the focus because I wanted to try it as is without disturbing the as-received condition of the new lens.

I want to hack my 808 key cam like Wszim (on, record and auto off).
But before, I have a question: can I hope to have a new firmware with this fonction or must I do the modification?

Do you have a #16? A 808 key cam comes in many versions.

Go to ChuckLohr.com where he talks about and explains the different versions.

The 808 is a small color video camera with audio that also takes photos. I received and reviewed my first 808 car keys micro camera (version #1) in September 2009. I received email from many other 808 owners, thank you, who described how the electronics and functions of their 808 were different than mine. I started enumerating and documenting the many versions and this website grew. Each version has it's own page: #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6, #7, #8, #9, #10, #11, #12, #13, #14, #16.


This thread is about #16 HD version.
