My netbook doesn't play the full HD image smoothly... hopefully you have a more capable PC. The colors on the native clip are a tiny bit more vivid and dead on for color and stability. About as good as it gets with a $40 HD key cam, folks!
Yes! That's very nice, indeed. Okay, I'm convinced.

It plays very well on my cellphone heheh! Yep, its very good, some motion blur inside, but who cares, its great in the sun. The blue sky is very uniform, focus good too

Thanks!

Jello effect in new #16

Here are excerpts from another video taken through the windshield of my car. The new #16 was velcroed to my baseball cap. The cap was resting on the dashboard.

Any ideas about what's causing the jello effect?

Could it be the cam is trying to focus on your winshield then on the back of the car causing that jello effect?

At 1.44 when you pull away behind the black car the jello effect seems not to be there.

Could you try it again with the lens as close to the windshield as you can get it?

I could well be totally wrong, I am just throwing my thoughts into the mix

Here's the HK Wing lens on #11 cam. Posting here with apologies, still some focus issue due to alignment of lens barrel with CMOS. I think the long lens barrel makes any out of true installation of the CMOS more critical. The sky seems good to me - not too much vignetting

Bill it only seemed to do it when it was close behind the black Ford. But behind the white Ford it seemed to be real stable. Scotsoft may have something in his comments about trying to focus. Good thing it wasn't a FORD FOCUS.

The jello effect is the idle speed of your engine interacting with the frame rate of the camera. The car is moving up and down a very small amount, which is being amplified by the camera catching successive frames at "almost" the same position. At a guess, this didn't happen later in the video because the engine warmed up, so the idle was higher.

The jello effect or rolling shutter is probably a low frequency motion from the V6 engine in my Freestar at idle.

The #16 (and all other 808 key cams) have both fixed aperature and fixed focus... only the shutter can be changed to control exposure. Any waviness is a result of vibration coupled with the camera's rolling shutter.

Nice vid any update on hk just selling the lens?
I just might wait and see if the #16 goes to a wider fov and get all the kinks out.
I have the #11 after everthing was fixed bought this late summer plus the hk wing cam and a sony bloggie.
I enjoy trying to film with my friend of us flying planes together and the wider fov helps.

Glad to see wider options will be available, excellent news!
HTH
Yes, I think it will be a hot option even if it is an add-on that will not 'fit' into the 808 case (how many of us are using this for covert purposes

yep, don't bother.
I have them and the threads are way too big. I couldn't even make it work by approximating the spacing

When I know more I will let you know in this thread.
Very interested in what you find Tom.
(I would still love to see something between the 90 and 120)

If your 120 degree lens is as good as the HK (or IS the same lens) than there will definitely be an interest!

How about the lenses in the links below?
Does anyone have some insight on them?
(are they the same thread as the DealXtreme lenses?)
