Carbon fibre/mylar BitCharger conversions
This thread - https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...threadid=92524 - shows a successful BitCharger conversion by Alfonso with a Kolibri-style wing.
I've copied the pic below from that thread. It looks really interesting; I've tried emailing Alfonso but haven't received a reply. I'd love to know the dimensions of the wing. Does that look like 1.5mm CF to the more experienced CF constructors? Anyone else tried a BitPlane using carbon fibre/mylar construction methods, and if so, with any success? I'm really tempted to try - there's a few likely looking candidates at http://litke.info/uPlanes/. What do you think? |

Raring to go
Right then. I think I'm going to base this experiment around the Carbon Skeeter - see http://litke.info/uPlanes/electrics/cSket.html.
Lovely plane - it's a couple of years old though and I reckon with a 145 LiPoly, bitcharger rx and pager motor drive I can shave a few grams off the 22g weight; esp. since the airframe weighs in at 6.2g! Things have been ordered, bitcharger has been dissected - photos will be posted |

My donor car is the current offering from the UK-based Discovery Store. You can see it at http://www.thediscoverystore.co.uk/p...t=16&keyword=.
It's got the 6mm x 12mm motor, a charger that's seperate to the tx (which seems a bit unusal), a single coil for steering, and a single NiCad. I get about 20ft range out of the box. Planned mods are longer antenna on tx and rx, 9v mod on tx if I need it, home-wound coils to better deal with being powered by a LiPoly, reverse eliminator mod, MOSFET on the rx - and that should about do it |

Iain, I'll be keeping an eye on this thread as you progress, too.
Good luck! |
