So does this engine have needle bearings? I see it has an oil injection system yet still recommends ~20:1 mix in the fuel. I guess that means no needle bearings in the conrod? idk, if I wanted an oil thirsty motor I would just stick with glow... But I need more info.

Yes no needle bearings for small engines because manufacturer(NGH) says there is no such small, reliable, good needle bearings. So he uses needle bearings on over 17CC engines. It is Chinglish so that "oil" word must be gasoline. So no oil injection but gas pump to carb..

Oh - well if it can safely run ~ 20:1 then I would be willing to give it a try even without a needle bearing. 5% oil beats 18-20 % Oil I am running in my glow motors... I wonder how the fuel economy will compare to the Saito 14 FG.

If I would be in your shoes,I would take it safe side and no worry to use more oil.(Unless you mean to involve racing ).Only will be needed to clean carbon time to time.

The engine has a FUEL PUMP operated off crankcase pressure.

NOT an "oil supply" or "oil filter" or "oil box" .

This a bad case of Chinglish .

It is always hard to translate technical language.

Neither GT17 nor GT25 have a needle bearing on the con-rod...
but you can install it yourself http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=9643869

As I am informed directly from manufacturer(Michael Chow),NGH 25 and upper sizes have needle bearing conrod.(You can have bushing type conrod if you want, optional only for NGH 25 also)

Interesting. Is the the smallest gas engine out now? What size plane would it be for? I don't know much about gas power plants but want to learn more. I am assuming more torque at low RPM than glow since it has less top end HP (but similiar RPM)

It is the smallest one I know of - I would put it in my senior telemaster. It really beats the price (I am only assuming this based on the price of their other engines - not sure what this one will cost) of the saito 14 cc gasser 4 stroke and the BME .90 ci conversion.

the BME 90 is a 15cc engine of course it's a Super Tiger (chinese glow engine) converted to gas and they want 400 bucks for it.. What a huge margin profit!
it runs just fine because the Walbro carb however I cannot tell you the same about the FG14 and its glow carb issues.
the lowest price of the GT9 I have found online it's here VAT included 149€ http://www.modelpascher.com/catalog/...u6jhh1jqd08s26

turk1 they added it this afternoon because in the morning it was not advertised there yet.
about the price if you live in Europe you have to add 20% - 25% for taxes and customers fees + shipping from HiModel so it's a bit cheaper from the link I posted above. NGH does not have any MSRP and some dealers are crying because they cannot beat that great price..

It's hard to resist.... Any speculation on the stability of that price? It is so much cheaper than the other engines from that manufacturer....
