What motor / prop setup is everyone else using??
I was going to use turnigy 3548 but if people can recommend better
Once built it will probably be a heavy ship, eventually when properly tested.
I got a Flir tau 2 cam, Sony 1010 module and make a retractable gamble I've seen on other threads.

Amp microwave 433 video transmitter for 30km + video :-)
And other electronics ... Cheers boss

Might even mould it . then make it just out of cf

Hi, never by hand, too dangerous, I bought this kit, many landings and never damage the plane, I surely recommend it.

What wheels are you using? Do you launch it by hand?

I use a 3548 770kv motor and 13x8 prop, lots of thrust for take off and good cruise efficiency.

I use the Sunny Sky x2820 KV920 but not sure if its a good choice, Im experimenting with it, it was a Bevrc combo, today they change his mind and sell the X8 with this motor , (GS3548-5 KV830), I will give it a try.

Hobbyking totally incompetent
Order the x8 and 3548 motor from EU warehouse because it showed items in stock
8 motors and 10 x8's
After 5 days of live chat trying to find out why my order wasn't shipped, I was told
"The motor is out of stock" website still showed 7 in stock and 8 x8s in stock
Cancelled the motor from my order so they could send the x8 ( motor stock goes upto 8)
Customer service say no problem
12 days after the initial order after more live chat chasing
Guess what " OUT OF STOCK" how is this possible if warehouse staff have picked it??

So no motor , no x8

HOBBYKING ------- USELESS

What the &@#?!

I was just testing my black X8 outside in sunny 20C temperatures.
I left it for 10 minutes, and returned to see the foam expanding and distorting.
I've not treated the outside of the foam with anything.
What going to happen flying for 30 minutes on a hotter sunny day?! It'll disintegrate!

I can't be the only person who has experienced this...

While flying, the internal temps will rise, but the outer surface will receive airflow.

While it is flying you should have no issues
I would have it in the shade if its on the ground

No, I've never seen another X8 do that just sitting in the sun outside.
In fact, I've never seen any EPO plane do that unless it had been painted
and never that much. I don't have a black X8, but I did have
a black Skyhunter, and it never bubbled, even when left inside a hot car.

If this is from the newest batch of black X8's, my guess is they've either
chosen a new paint or dye to color it that soaks up the sun's energy too much,
or a sub-standard EPO foam that can't take the heat. My black Skyhunter
required over about 90 degrees C to bubble the foam.

Just curious, if you slice through one of those beads, is it black or white inside?

My HK skipper got a nice blue paint job on the wing leading edge, and as it sat in the sun on my work table by the window, I noticed that it seemed to be growing warts all over the blue surface. Not bad ones, but a noticeable texture. My electronic thermometer showed 45 degrees C. So, for a test, I put it in the sun more directly, and by 65 degrees the disease looked quite nasty- rather like "the Cure"'s poor bird.
I suspect the problem does vary by the quality of the foam somewhat, but I have no data for that.

Yes, it's black through and through.
I bought this early 2012, and have been working on it on and off for that duration.
This is more than disappointing.

I suppose BevRC isnt going to honour a warranty. Heh.

Mine (black) has been exposed to the hot South Australian mid summer sun, well over 38C , for ages without a problem. Good luck with the warranty claim though.

As I mentioned earlier there are two versions - Tropical White and North Black.
For Canada, BC you apparently did choose the right version...
Are there any ozone holes developing over the west recently? Or may be acid rain?
To make it pop like that it would need to reach over 100 deg c surface temperature....

Can I suggest spray on sunscreen with SPF 50+, that one for babies. Apply to the top of the plane.
That will be light, no too sticky and will reflect the UV which likely killed your foam.
