I didn't get a chance to fly her again today....was messing with some other birds and the big gassers took over the field.....to many distractions for my little brain to handle Might try Karsa's flap mod before the next excersion.

Banjo, did you turn it around? When i first put mine together i didn't notice till it was almost to late glueing the rockets on. The base has oposite slants on it

Almost --- the last Corsair is my Airfield 1400mm F4U. The Durafly F4U-4 and the PZ F4U belong to Kasra and Dan, the other 3 represent about 25% of my Corsair fleet. My new Durafly F4U-4 arrived just yesterday (ordered Dec 17). The attached pictures show two of my scratch-built 24-inch-span F4U-5 versions, one foam, one balsa. The latter turned out too heavy to fly.

Shipping my F4U-4

Folks,

There have been questions about shipping time from HobbyKing. I had to wait quite a while and was getting impatient. Kasra gave me a good link to access shipment tracking from Hong Kong Post (thanks Kasra):

http://app3.hongkongpost.com/CGI/mt/enquiry.jsp

I ordered my Durafly F4U-4 on Dec 17, 2011. I had it shipped Air Parcel (should have used EMS Express)

In case it helps any of you waiting for a shipment - here is how mine went:

This is the log of my HobbyKing account:

Web Accept Payment Received (Unique Transaction ID #03P0xxxxxxxxx09)

JIT In Transit to FrontWarehouse @Dec 21 2011 2:21PM
BSKT914 JIT ARRIVED IN WAHLOK @Dec 22 2011 12:39PM

This is the final log at Hong Hong Post for my shipment:

14-Jan-2012 United States of America Arrived the delivery office and is being processed.
14-Jan-2012 United States of America Delivered.

Total elapsed time from order-to-delivery: 29 days.

I received the package in good condition and the Corsair was undamaged. Like most of the rest of you I am impressed with the quality of this model. I hope the retracts are reliable (as my Airfield 1400mm F4U and P-51 retracts have been a big hassle). I'm looking forward to getting my Durafly into the air and hope to do some mods a la Kasra.

Much easier to tell the size difference with that angle.

Both mounting plates were the same thickness and both were not sitting flush and one more than the other even when I matched panel lines, I used my dremel to carve it out so both now sit flush with the wing surfaces and looks way better, also I am painting the rockets white with red fins ( not scale for the era but hey ) it may help with orientation. I should maiden this w/e if the weather is good

Thanks

Shaun.

Shaun.
I plan to paint my rockets (body & fin) white with red nose. This was not that far from scale - there were lots of rocket colors... I like the look of this AM-1 Mauler with bombs/torpedos.

Thinking of pulling the trigger on this fine looking bird. I don't own any 3 cell lipos. I see the bird calls for 2200. I was wondering if going to 2650, 2800, or 3000 would be beneficial I plan on using 30 or 40 c discharge rates

The bigest 3s i have is a 2500 40c and it's wide. I stick to the 2200 3s in the majority of my planes. Im not a racer, more of a scale guy. I think that the bigger ones have been discused a few pages back but CG may change a bit.

I've been using 2800 30c in both the Corsair and the P47 with no problems at all. I get 12 min flights which still leaves a lot to spare.
