Slow Stick total flight time.

My Slow Stick now has a total of 55 hours and 30 minutes in flight. The first motor died at ten hours. I spend most of the time riding thermal lift. I use one nicad battery and the rest are nih batteries. My longerst single flight was 33 minutes. I am wondering who out there has me beat?

64 minutes on 3s2p 1020 Kokams and geared 010 at night with lights on. I'm convinced I could hit 2 hours during the day with 3s2p 1200's, but I'm not sure -I- could last that long 33 minutes on NiMH is pretty impressive though.

I have made some modifications on my SS so I just stick my next battery on with Velcro so my turn around time is about five minutes. My longest day was flying three hours total, many flights. The 010 may be in my future.

What size nimh did you use. I was using the one from my sons firebird XL. Its 900ma. not sure what my longest is but, if I am easy on the throttle I can push 20 min. Oh and welcome to the e-zone.

When using a 2-cell E-Tec 1200 LiPoly, I quit after about 45 minutes. My neck hurt from looking up for so long...

I have three eight cell 800 mah, one eight cell 1,100 mah, the seven cell 600 mah nicad did about 25 min one warm day. Also six and seven cell 1 amp batteries. Quite a few smaller batteries too. If the weather warms up I am hoping to reach 60 hours this year yet. Have you tried to fly yours on a slope?

I would like to fly mine on a slope. I ve caught lift off the roof of the house. But there is nothing in the world like standing on a wingtip and going up in a thermal. LOL

A flight of 2 hours or more, is easily obtainable, with light weight Li-Po cells. The only reason it has not been done is, no one has wanted to.
You could easily carry 4200 mah of Li-Po cells, and with any luck find a thermal.

I have 2 cell li-poly's (850's??) for my Moth I have 1200 li-poly's for my switchback and others. I tried the 1200 on my litestik. I went 50 minutes before I got bored, I'm sure I could have gotten far longer, but as another person said - my neck got tired of looking up!! The lite stick just keeps going and going...

I used to average about 30 mins on the stock battery that came with the stik!

I am still looking for anyone who has more total flight time on their one Slow Stick. I ride thermals much of my flight time. I have felt the bump and gone back up when my Slow Stick was under six feet off the ground. Thermals are wonderful.

I once got a thermal in my hang glider at about 100 feet and rode it to 6000. Highest i've been is 12000. beat that! I know, I know I'm off subject.

Total air time on my slowstick I'm not sure. but some might say that it LOOKS like it has 60 hours on it.

yes, thermaling is fun. just, whatever you do, please, please, dont dive your model in a thermal. i cant stress this enough. try and find the thread "something you should NOT do in a thermal", or something like that, and you will see why i say this.

Thank you for the advice about diving my plane while it is in a thermal. I will keep it in mind. I lost the wing on a sailplane a very long time ago.

I am comfortable in a sailplane at 4,500 feet but the idea of a hang glider at 12,000 makes my stomach churn. You are a better man than I am.

What does geared 010 mean?

I have no experience with the 010 but I hope someone will tell us both to way to go.
