Futaba makes a great digital metal gear servo in this size, also check out MKS servos. IMHO Hitec digitals are not terribly accurate. Although they probably develop more power across the range of movement.

One more point for Savox.

Those look like they might be just insane torque for this since they suggest 65MGs... the smaller ones I linked already provide more torque than the 65s. The $23 price tag ain't bad either.

***EDIT*** just noticed the cheaper ones are plastic gears, so scratch that.

I'm just really wanting to try digitals in something, and figured I may as well start here since I'm ordering parts for it.

I'm really tempted to go 4s 2000mah, so I can double them up in a 74" Edge 8s setup in a few months. Not sure I like the idea of a 12" prop on a 48" plane though.

Well I have been chopping and changing props and motors lately and currently am using a 12x6 as the bigger props were pulling too many amps on the cheapo 1000kv motor I am using (this is on Skywings Extra 300).
It goes fine on the smaller prop,in fact less torque roll obviously than the bigger woodies I was using. The vertical and speed is still very impressive.
I am not exactly sure of my watts, probably around 450/500.
I can't really see the point of 700 watts on 4S,but I am sure someone will do it.

I'm going to try the ZTW 50A from Quantum Hobby for $38.

I've been hearing the name ZTW again and again these days, and nothing but praise.

LOl I was just shopping for servos this evening as well. Looks like the savox 0257-mg is the closest math to the 65mg in specs and is digital. The 0255 are pretty much the same price but are heavier and have crazy torque as mentioned above. If I don't go with the 65mg's I think I will try the 0257. The Km mentioned in the addicts thread they were a great servo. He has used them. The 0350's would probably be fine but are plastic geared

A few pics

I love this plane, it is a blast. It's very durable and I've had to do a few repairs the inside of fuse is an easy fix with Popsicle sticks and the wing was easy with foam safe ca, the rest I used welders. I ke'd into a tree messing around and was able to put it back together with very little effort

the savox 0257 is the same as the Align DS410M and although they are super nice on paper and have zero slop, I have had one burn out on me on my trex 250 and have heard many stories of the same

What does the breaking news mean?
If you are a customer outside the US, you should not be affected.

If you are a customer inside the US, we will not be allowed to ship SkyWing products to you after September 30th. In fact, SkyWing products will be kept away from the US. Eventually, you will find products similar to the current SkyWing offerings in the US, but under a different brand name. When will that happen? We don't know.

With shipping you couldn't get a skywing for less than $150 into the states. 3dhs price is a bargin, I paid $150 for an epp profile. Not sure why people are grumbling. It's a very fair price for what you get.
