thanks chris

having mega fun with this now!
had a real microlight pilot down the flying field today (my dad) and he was saying that he wouldnt be able to tell if it was real or not when its flying further away.
love when people say things like that! lol

he also sat and watched us doing the FPV which was cool

ive just replied to your email mate

air to air video off a wot-4 foam-e,
would be brilliant with an fpv plane so you can see how close you are and when its in shot and a gopro for better quality,
even a slower plane would help.. the wot4 stalls at the microlights trim speed

If ever you needed a proffesional photographer with you it was last night! (unfortunately i didnt )
we saw a bunch of geese flying towards our flying field which they do fairly often but never when ive had my microlight up!
i managed to fly -what i thought was inbetween the group as the silhouette was perfect (when i checked my onboard video i was sort of by the side of them)
worked out better really though as it made the microlight look bigger and more realistic.

but the sight was absolutely amazing with sun low in the sky,the silhouette of the ducks and the microlight flying along with them like the film 'fly away home'

once in a lifetime shot and i missed it!

I am in awe of your craftsmanship and attention to detail. Congratulations.

Man, that moving head is freaky.

Thanks for sharing the craft and the videos.

got a poorly little girl today so im working on my microlight while she has a sleep,

very windy outside so no testing yet but im working on some wingtip fins that they have on the real p&m gt450's

this is just made of card atm to get the shape and see what they look like but ill make some more now and hopefully test later or tomorrow depending on weather,

'Yaw stability is provided by the nose-angle, the sweep-back of the wings, and any vertical surface behind the C of G such as a keel pocket or a fin'
more yaw stability = better turning

interesting site:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Ive been reading lots of comments off m#rio lately that infact me and the others that have made rc weightshifts lately are clones of his we we're all studying his to get ours flying properly,
to be honest i think its time to clear a few things up,

i dont feel this is bringing down my thread at all -
i think it just shows what problems ive had along the way and what direction my microlight was going in from the very start for anyone thats in doubt.

here is my very first thread about my nitro microlight back in aug 29 2008.
the trike was started a few months before this date as you can see from the pics

I said i was making the wing out of carbon rod and ripstop 'sticks and cloth'
this never changed at all.
the twin servo and springs idea has never changed just tuned to work more efficient.

you can read about my choice of frame material and how i was thinking it might be too heavy (alloy square section tube)
even my dad (a real flexwing pilot) said it wont fly saying 'its a model aircraft it needs to be light'
but i pressed on knowing it could be lightened or swapped for wood at a later date.

notice the rear fin and pod, screen and instruments on the very early pics that m#ario is now using on his new version (none of his previous ones)

fact: my trike hasnt changed significantly from these very early pics,
at a time when mario was making his lightweight wingwarping microlights there is no resemblance in the slightest

he states i copied the twin servo idea and i have no problem with saying and ive said before that i did... from the guy in the video below!
but adding the springs as crash resistance and to get it flying how I wanted
Rogallo (2 min 18 sec)
