How much power do Lipo's lose in cold temps???
I'm from Minnesota and fly outside all year long. I'm thinking about getting some of the new Kokam 2 cell 1500 packs for a Potensky Eagle. I fly in temps that range from 20 degrees and up in the winter.
How much power and duration do Lipo batteries lose in the cold? Do Lipos lose a lot more power or duration than Nimh? I'm considering just doing a 7 cell 720 Nimh pack if the cold is really an issue for Lipos? Thanks, Doug |

Do a little searching - this question has come up several times.
Short answer based on my experiences: NiMHs lose more performance to cold than LiPoly. NiCds lose less than either. If the battery is in the slipstream it will REALLY be affected. If not, you should still be able to have quite a bit of fun. |
