What is the motivation to "mechanically trim" a V911? Does it achieve anything that electronic trimming does not?

You can lynch me all you want but the company that makes them is called WLTOYS not WLHOBBIES. These are sold as toys. There is a reason they are designed so that anybody can fly them with very little challange. They are no more hobby grade than the airhogs or or DH 3channel helis. Just as tyco would not be considered hobby grade rc trucks. Just because people in the hobby use it and mod it does not mean its sold as anything but a childs toy.

Hobby Grade can be upgraded and/or customized, accessories/parts available long term, longer life expectancy, more radio options, and more features. In the past, it would have been bought at a hobby store, instead of toy or department store. Now online 'department' stores such as BG and HK et al have changed that. Also, hobby grade is something you keep and enjoy for a long time as a 'hobby'. Toy Grade is, or has been in the past, something you play with until it breaks. Then you throw it away and go on to something else. IE not a hobby for you. There is no longer a sharp line separating hobby and toy grades. I think the v911 and most other micros we fly today, are mostly hobby grade, as we know it now. Not the same level as the 450+ birds, but still more hobby grade than toy grade. They target the entry level hobbyist more than the play and dispose crowd. Whatever we call them, at the end of the day, even a Trex 700 is still a (expensive) 'toy'. regards . . . g |

There is some 11 year old boy left in me and the v911 is affordable on my pension.
I am right now plotting my next money meager labour loaded upgrade mod. |

On my 9116 transmitter, at the bottom of the menu on the right is a setting labeled 'TRI'. Next to this setting will sometimes be an 'F', an 'R' (maybe 'A'), or a number between 0-4. I can't find this setting mentioned in the manual or on the forum. Anybody know what this setting is?
Also, a lot of people think the normal/reverse settings are labeled 'NOA' and 'AEU'. Those labels are actually 'NOR' for normal, and 'REV' for reverse. Just wanted to clear that up. |

Mechanically trimming the heli with the tx trim at neutral gives you the most trim span. Also, you can think of mechanical trim as a courser type of trim, and the tx trim as fine trim.
