The V911 with the 9958 motor and larger pinion gear is quiet. Slowly trimming main blade trailing edges 1mm per slice by sliding a Sharpie marker near the edge and cutting with scissors. Measure and compare rotor RPM, then fly it for a week with the other V911's.
That is the plan anyway. Only did one 1mm slice so far. Too many other projects. And still breaking in the main gear as it is tighter against the larger pinion gear. Last time I tried same thing using a stock V911 motor. Trimmed about 3mm off main blade trailing edges and it just barely flew. My flights get real sloppy on high rates and I can't control the V911. My thumbs do the flying, even in the dark by memory. It's automatic. |

Maybe stiffen your flybar some. I like the braided fishing line and CA glue stock flybar I modded. Has some flex but have yet to have a strike. I think the heat-shrink that MOK used is probably stiffer, but I remember him saying you have to be careful cause of the heat can mess up the ball link ends on the flybar (could warp the flybar too I would guess). The paddle one I did, I did heat-shrink off the flybar until it would barely slide over the flybar then I glued it on. But it broke at the edge. If you use a CF FB, you may want to do fishing line like I did part way out and glue a small piece of CF stock on the top center (or just that part maybe). cause it was posted a few pages back that the CF FB was weak between the mounting hole and ball link ends and my mod wouldn't help that. I think MOK broke a CF FB too. I would like to have a flybar with metal ends so I could screw the 4g6 paddles on and be able to adjust them easily to tune in. I didn't like the one shot glue on deal. I have many pieces of stock and various parts to order for some testing I want to do. My main V911 is having trouble that I am going to ask about later. Quote:

My v911 is coming in the mail Thursday, I am excited to join the conversation as I test this thing out. I currently own a s107 (with a dead battery that I need to replace), a JXD 340 Drift King (that I like but the gear for the upper blades keeps slipping so I am annoyed with it) and a falcon 40 v2 (that I can't fly for anything and sits on a shelf awaiting repairs). I am hoping to learn a lot about 4 ch flying from my v911 before trying out the falcon 40 again. I must have read a hundred pages of this post waiting for my new heli to come.

I did a while back, no problems with the stock TX. I really bought the 9X because of my 9958's. They're a little beast that has to be tamed next to the V911.

I'm all about the paddles tonight. I went ahead and re-did the paddles on my V911. I tried shoving it in there as far as I could and then balancing them and making sure the paddles track in the same plane. Then once it was balanced and looking straight, I smeared CA glue (gel) around the outside of the shaft and the paddle. I have NO idea whether this will hold or whether I'll have a flybar paddle "missile" shooting off later... The problem is that when you stick those paddles in there, they're really stiff and hard to adjust. If I had CA glue in there trying to set, I'm sure I'd get it all over my fingers and it would probably harden before I got the darned paddles leveled out. The only way I could see of doing it differently is if I took some sandpaper to the ends of the flybar to shrink it down or else took increasingly larger drillbits to the inside of the flybar paddle with a pin-vice until I got the holes large enough for the shaft to fit in there comfortably. Then I suppose I could balance them and then mark where they're supposed to go, pull the paddles off, add a little glue, and then push them back on until they line up again and HOPE I GOT IT RIGHT!!! Well, I bought two sets of the paddles and 4 come in a pack so I can experiment. I've got a few more flybars coming as well in the mail so I'll be able to experiment some more. Anyway, here are some pix of my flybar with the CA gel on the outside waiting to cure. |

Just remember to start off easy with small stick motions until you get used to the way it flies. It'll be a little different. You flying with stock TX or T9x?

I want to get some slower drying CA glue for certain things though! That would be much better. also added glue inside the screw hole on mine and filled that area up as well. Looks good though. Hope you don't get too much FB flex. if so do the small braided fishing line like I did, it helps allot. Just add a tiny dab of glue, glue an end on where you want to start. then wrap it tightly (isnt hard at all) and glue the end when your done. Then go back and brush CA glue around all sides of the line, I did 2 coats. check for balance again though. Post some flight vids if you can once you get used to it some. I would like to see some slow movements, hover etc. if you can sometime. Quote:

Coaxials fly well close to the ground.
V911 has to get to eye level quickly to get out of ground effect. Take it easy on your batteries for the first dozen flights. Do not keep flying until it can't lift off. Swap batteries instead. Outside summer heat is a battery killer, though the same batteries seem to recover fine on cooler days. Have fun bouncing the V911 off the walls and ceiling indoors. It won't break until you learn to fly fast. Get some flybars for that time. |
