HK 2730 DIY kit

Hobby King 2730???? ( I haven't measured anything on this motor that correlates to these numbers)
Stator 22X5 mm single frame 9 or 10 laminations
3.3mm wire 20turns with inslation 0.30mm/.012" insulation sraped off
wind= distributed LRK W/ wye termination
14 poles
weight 26.5g
air gap=0.0893mm

Supposed to be a link to you tube of the motor run.
Special thanks to and Brian Mulder at Southern soaring Club for the really great articles about motor winding, info so that a first time winder can have this kind of success.
I got the bug!
Have to build a few test devices (static thrust meter, a way to measure kv etc) Will continue to add data as it becomes available. The article on scavenging CD-rom motors got me to thinking.
I'm a Mercury Outboard tech and I was noticing the fly wheel and stator on an outboard remind me of something. There are 14 teeth on the stator and 12 magnetic poles on the fly wheel. I believe there is an LRK wind that could be used to make one heck of an out runner. The ring gear removed of course. I have all ready picked the parts out of my used stack of ... stuff. Thats a bit ambitious and will take a little time to engineer the shaft and probably have to come up with different magnets
But back to airplanes I have already started another LRK wind motor ( 25mm stator) will publish as it moves along.

Hey Zero,

Your winds look very nice and neat, did the motor run ok?

One caution I have for you, the vise grips on the motor tube might be a bad thing. I believe most of the motor tubes are pretty soft aluminum and can distort pretty easy on the small motors. I learned this the hard way by over tightening grub screws on a fire wall motor mount caused the tube to mash a bearing too much and ruined the bearings..

btw your youtube link seems not to work.

Take it easy,

The test prop is a 10X4.7 APC SF. didnt have help to check rpm (it was dark outside) didn't want to work in the dark with a flash light.

Thank you for the caution on the bearing tube. The motor mount was supposed to be included. HK svc. department is working on sending it to me.
I got the video working, I really like the sound!

The Hobby King promised a motor mount and I'm still waiting.

Looks like a single stator motor in this photo:

we must be looking at 2 diffrent things, the motor kit on that site ron posted is a double stator

We must have been, I was talking about the kit in the photos in post #1 here.

You must be talking about this one at Air Craft:

Here is the datasheet on it:

and here are the assembly notes:

And it does look like the stator is two of them stacked that have slightly different finishes on the ends of the hammerheads. But they describe it as a as "..a whopping 10mm long, 20.2mm diameter 9-pole stator...".

"WHOPPING? Ha, sounds like a burger from "jack in the box" all seriousness aside that double info you posted looks like fun prodject/wind, at a reasonable price too, ya cant have enuff prodjects! as if I need anymore
