version 1.7
  • new bootstrap (from twitter) and small layout tweaks.
  • you can now change languages without loosing your wing.
  • deeplink is now language agnostic, following a deeplink for a wing can use a diferent language from the original.
  • some code re-arrangement.

PS: If you see a warning about Internet Explorer when you are using ANOTHER browser, just reload the page, will go away, I promise. (Its the same error of the version 1.6 with the wing load.

Wish list:

Calculate wing twist percentage relative to calculator values\results but I suppose the type of airfoil would be imperative???.

This is not feasible with the information we have on the calculator.

But a library of Wing designs is!

Aspect ratio

Hello,
For the wish list:
May be it would worth adding a field with aspect ratio for the wing calculated?

Thanks,

Easily doable, but for what purpose? You design wings 'looking' for the aspect ratio?

I was thinking about getting Stall velocity calculated, but that depends on weight, wing area, Cl_Max (Max lift coefficient of the airfoil) and air pressure (altitude), but we can assume sea level for that.

the big-big-big update is coming, library of wings!

Internal reorganization to use multiple pages already done,
login (using facebook and twitter) already implemented.

So now 'only' the library itself is missing.

Follow up:

We already have a table of wings server-side and already can save a wing (with the upload of canvas image too) and already retrieve wings from the database, now Im 'teaching' the calculator the notion of unsaved, saved and already saved but modified.

Nothing fancy to screenshot this time, only the tabs /Design/ Your Wings / Library:

Any wish list for the wingcgcalc?
This is a really useful piece of work, many thanks.
You asked for a wish list- well here's one for you!Variable geometry
A fixed centre panel, with the same outer panel moved in 5* increments from zero to 50*
have fun
Best regards Stuart

Im trying to understand, you want variable geometry in the calculator? How?

Bit of a tongue in cheek request.I've been playing about with a variable sweep chuck wing, just to see if the concept is viable.Wingspan @15*sweep 150mm.It has a centre section, the wing panels hinged to this and manually moved to each sweep position. To find the centre of gravity at each sweep position I fixed the wing on the bench, measured the root and tip chords at each sweep position and put them into your calculator.I only used 15,27.5 and 40* for the flight trials, but plotted each position from 5-45*,to see if the change was linear(it was)It was whilst doing this that the idea of the calculator handling variable sweep came to mind.
As I said, not a serious request, thought the idea might interest you.
Regards Stuart
