Thanks a lot guys.

The girl next door just walked over with some of the decals. They look great. ...decals ain't bad either.
Bogged down in the hardware install. Man there is a lot goin' on in this jet. Retracts, gear doors, flaps, air lines & every control surface has it's own servo, servos everywhere!
Thirteen servos in this baby.
I solder my own Y harnesses, what an ordeal.
Doin' my best to make it tidy.

All that's left is makin' up the push rods for all the flippy things out there on the wings. One more serious build session and it should be ready for some shake down pre-flight taxi tests.

No rush though, the weather is El Crappo down South. Wind & rain forecast solid into next week.

I'll get some pics up this weekend after the decals go on.

That looks really nice, Julian. I know what you mean about high servo count. My Apache has 11, if you include the two electric retracts. I may have missed it, what size Rx pack are you using? I have a 2000 Hydra-Max. Packs are very small and light for their capacities. my smaller jets are using the 750 Hydra-Max. And they are lighter a smaller than a NiCd 500 Mah.

Thanks Fuzz.
On the Rx I'm using a 1000mAh 2s lipo with a 5A BEC in all my planes. Less than 4 oz and I can just about make it all day on one charge, I still top it off anyway when it drops below 7.5v.

Fuzz, what do you think of the new dress? ...a little lighter pink.

I give the plane a 10 and the model a 12.

Picked it up from Hobby King a while back.
And the seat is just scraps of balsa I glued together.

Thought it was ready for the maiden then I had a weigh-in. AUW is 5.8 lbs!!
It will fly fine but I need to upgrade my LG. The wimpy 1/8 struts I bent up will fold under this thing. I'll make up some new ones in 5/32 wire.

Most of the decals applied. Probably all I'll do until the maiden.

Here's the story on the paint job:

My wife's brother is a Lt Col in the USMC about to return from home from a tour in Afghanistan. He should be at Camp Lejeune before the week is out and gets to come home to Louisiana on leave two weeks after that.
Brother-in-law is the family hero and we're all excited about him returning and have a big homecoming party planned for him.

My Dad being a Marine during WWII, I was raised with and still have a deep respect for our military and have always wanted to do a USMC plane. I passed the idea by the wife about putting Sam's name on the cockpit and she thought that was too cool.

When I started looking for a paint scheme none of the Marine Cougars/Panthers really had the bling I wanted as a tribute project for Sam. So the wheels started turning on a "what-if" USMC airshow demo plane.
Still a lot of detail trim to do but you get the idea.

The homecoming party is going to be a patriotic/Marine themed shindig and she wants to use the Cougar as a center piece for the decorations.

ARRRRGG!!! I'm scared to test fly it until then.

That is awesome Julian! Beautiful job on it.
Love the story too. I think you should wait till your BIL comes home before you maiden it. I'll bet he would enjoy seeing too!
Great story, please give him my appreciation for his service.
Again, beautiful airplane.
