Yep, got it.

Don't know when we'll be able to fly again. 7 days straight days of rain.

I know right, whats up with all this rain? Seems more like a month straght!! Remind me again what the sun looks and feels like please? We gonna have to sale all our stuff and get us some little indoor epo planes if this continues.

Speaking of foamies, I'm gonna try my hand at a entry level 3D plane. I've put together a 42inch 3d epp foamy sort of like Gary ( I think thats his name? ), and Mike's. I'm just waiting on the motor I ordered.

P.S. I'll give you the 5 dollars the next time I see y'all.

Boogie,

Not sure how I missed this thread but I did. Just finished reading it and must add my congrats on a great build. The homecoming party for your BL added another whole dimension.

Thanks for a good read.

Resurrecting this thread prompted me to revisit the Cougar.

I never was able to get this thing slowed down on landings. I didn't build any wash-out into the wings which made the slow flight characteristics suck.
Even tried reflexing the ailerons up to try and simulate wash-out but it really didn't work.

Every landing approach was a hairy, near tip-stall, wing wagging experience.
I've knocked the tail off three times and the nose twice trying to set it down at 90 mph.

So yesterday morning I sawed off the wings and hot wired some new wing cores with about 2-3 of wash out.

At speed this was a great flying plane, one of my favs.
Will be nice to fly it again without having a panic attack on every landing.

Glad your doing it right, Julian. It will fly with a little up trim as compared to the old wings. It will want to fly at a slight positive angle. Washout effectively reduces the WA.

BTW, I have a local friend who is interested in a John Bell F-80, will pay for both builds. 203% for a 60mm exhaust for the CS fans. A big stick plane with Poly-Span covering and Eflite 10 retracts.

Yeah Fuzz, I don't know why I didn't put wash out in it originally. I guess I thought the generous wing area of the Cougar would make it a floater.
Lesson learned.

Makin' some good progress on the new wings and they're just about ready to install.

When skinning the foam cores I didn't get a clean, tight glue edge on the TE.
So I trimmed off the back of the wing and made built-up flaps & ailerons.
All good.

Looking forward to your work on the P-80 Fuzz.

Nice Cougar man. Hope it will be easier to land it in one piece after the rebuild. This issue make me concerned about my my F-16XL. It may also require some wash out like the real thing in order to make it more controllable at low speeds.
