Multiplex Fun Cub

My Fun Cub configuration

NTM Prop Drive Series 35-36A 910Kv / 350W
12 x 6e APC = 330W on 3s
40 amp plush controller
Spektrum AR6110e -> later upgraded to Orange 9CH with additional UBEC 5A
2 Hitec 81MG for elevator/rudder
4 HXT900 for flaps and ailerons
and some lights

DX7 mixing
mixing flaperons to flaps:
Gear -> Aileron -0/+40 on flap2
Gear -> Gear 0/-80 on flap2

Mixing flaps to as ailerons:
Aile -> Aux2, +20/+20 on flap0
Aile -> Flap, -20/0 on flap0

dual ailerons:
aile -> gear, +100/+100

dual flaps:
flap -> aux2, +100/+100

Elevator flap mixing:
Flap 20% deployed -> elevator 18 down
Flap 100% (90 deg) -> elevator 40 down

Went back to the AR6110e. The Orange 9ch RX seems very prone to brownouts even with 5A UBEC. Had brownouts about every 5th flight.

Upgraded motor to a Scorpion 3014-830. 50 W more power with about the same weight and prop.

What size battery do you use? What flight times do you get with it?

I normally fly a good selection of 1000(45C)/1300(45C)/1600(35-50C)/1800(30-40C)/2200(25-50C) mAh 3s. The 1000 mAh really is pushing it and voltage drops despite the high C rating. I only use that one for no wind conditions and keep the throttle low. For my setup I think the sweet spot is between the 1800 and 2200 depending on the wind conditions.

I guess I get 8 -15 minutes out of them. I do usually mixed flying of acrobatics, occasional hover and slow and low (expect on the 1000-1300s)

So I went to another motor an thought I share my experience with now three different motors on 1000+ flights with my FunCub.

Started off with a Turnigy D3536 910 kV
On a 12x6 APCe on 3S fresh pack 330 Watts wot. Goes vertical, somewhat slow out of a hover. Motor + prop weight approx 140g

Needed more oomph for 3D: Went to a Scorpion SII 3014-830 kV
On a 13x6.5 APCe on 3S fresh pack 370 Watts wot. Goes vertical quite well, pushes nicely out of a hover. Somewhat lacks end speed but tons of torque with minimal takeoff roll. Motor + Prop weight 175g

For slightly more end speed finally just went to a Turnigy D3536 1000 kV
On a 12x6 APCe on 3S fresh pack 350 Watts wot. Similar to the Scorpion. Higher end speed and slightly better vertical with ever so slightly increased takeoff distance. Motor + Prop weight 140g.

My personal preference is the 3536 1000 kV balancing thrust, speed and weight.
