Cool

Simple DTD ( Dollar Tree Delta )

Built this in about an hour using one sheet of dollar tree foam (paper removed ) . Very lightweight so it can fly slow - but will scoot if you want it too . Literally 5 triangles and 2 rectangles , a little hot glue , some tape and three carbon rods .

DTD ( Dollar Tree Delta ) $1.00 airframe (2 min 50 sec)

Could you please post the generals (plans and power plant) on your delta. I am considering doing something similar to this myself.

Here are the plans - from 1 sheet Dollar Tree foam - KF airfoil on top of wing. Two carbon rods taped to leading edges and one across span in front of elevons. Best guess CG to start with , then adjusted as needed for good flight by moving battery forward or back. The motor/ESC is a Blue Monster/20amp from Lazertoyz, servos are a couple of 9g I had laying around. 8x6 GWS prop.

Balsa or Carbon's DTD - Extracted Plans

Balsa or Carbon,
I really like the simplicity of your airplane. I went over the photo with the dimensions on it, took the data, and laid it out in my CADS program. I started with a stock 20" x 30" sheet and scaled in all the dimensions the best I could. I think you will find them very close to what you have actually built. The attached photo is extracted from the CADS program to show the dimensions I came up with, mounting positions for the CF rod and rudders, and the cut lines for each of the pieces. If you will please look it over and see if it looks correct to you. If I need to make changes, just let me know.

That's a great design, thanks for sharing that! I've never tried it as a puller, but have done some pushers.

They fly very, very well.

Thanks for doing that! The only thing I would change is make the elevons at least 1 1/2" , which is what I have. I made the plane for a friend to learn to fly with ailerons ( elevons ) , so I wanted to keep the roll very mild - but 1" might be too mild .

DTD with larger Elevons

Elevons have been enlarged to 1 1/2".

I think what I like seeing the most about this design is that the cut out of the part is so simple.

I have also included drawing for a larger 24" x 36" version for the Blu FFF buffs.

I use different batteries , 2-3 cell , 350-800 mah . The 3 cell gives you a little more power than the 2 cell , the lighter 350 mah lets you fly slower than the heavier 800 mah.

Prop in slot pusher

I converted the DTD to a prop in slot pusher to give the motor a little more protection - flies just as good! And here is a picture of the landing gear - simple , light , works well.

My DTD, and it flies like it is on rails.

I finally got all the pieces in that I needed to build the DTD, and it flies great. I used a Hobby King 24gram motor, 1700 Kv (HXM2730-1700), a GWS 8x4 prop, and a Zippy 3s 1000 battery. I am using a CG that is 9" from the tip of the foam structure of the delta. It is equipped with 1.5" wide elevons. I only used fiberglass strapping tape to stiffen up the structure.

I have the airframe built up but am not sure what electronics to use? Are there any you would recommend? I cant find the motor/esc you listed.
