Hitex charger and parallel balance cable for 3S

I just got some 3S 240 mAh batteries and a parallel balance cable. And now I am scratching my head... First, I understand that I should probably charge the batteries individually for the first few cycles - NP, that is what I am doing right now on my Hitec X4 charger. But I did try to see if this works at all, charging through the balance port, and I can't get it to work. If I choose balance mode instead of charge mode on the X4, it still complains about connection break. Looks like it still wants to charge through the charge cable and only monitor through the balance port. But that makes no sense either, it MUST be able to address individual cells thus it MUST be able to charge through the balance port. So what am I missing? Do I need to put 1 battery on a charge cable to fool the X4?

Set your charger for #3S balance charge at .72 Amps. This will be a 1C charge

edited for wrong 1C charge.

Rich,

Many chargers need both the charge lead & balance lead hooked up.

Do you have a 6-port UMX charge harness?

Leave the 2S balance port unplugged to charge 3S UMX batts.

It's not the current setting. The charger complains because only the balance ports is hooked up, the charge port is not connected...

Looks like I need a charge harness... Oh I see, you have a 2S charge and balance harness, so that's apparently what I need, and just ignore the 2S balance plug and use the 6x S3 balance harness instead... right? Might make that a little clearer in the 1st post. Or maybe this is a niche problem, specific to Hitec.

I will try the 3S batteries tomorrow, I hope, weather cooperating

I have to say I continue to love my Babbel Batts and charging them is second nature after getting what you need to properly charge them.
