I have a 9116 and i was a little disappointed it was advertised as 450 size I sit the thing beside My 450 Razor and its half the size. All that aside It flies well in 0-5mph wind but I would suggest duct taping the top of canopy first thing because hard landings cause the fly-bar to crash right through. The electronics are very close and
become smashed easily. I also moved battery to the bottom, ding the original and buy a couple of LiPo's $3.50 at Xheli.com. Despite what everyone says the charger charges the LiPo's fine. The only additional mod I made was I put 3 Pennies in the nose with krazy glue. Flown about 20 times. 9100 parts fit except swash plate and controller. For around 100 bucks there hard to beat one of my favorable Heli's

Gens 30c $5.25 works the best ($3.50 ones are gone) you can get velcro straps at hardware store, strap under landing skid below motor, very easy to change out. I put a small piece velcro on battery and the main frame to keep from sliding. And you don't have the battery near the electronics in a crash and we all crash.

I did get some 10/c 900mah ones on Amazon with right plugs on them for under $5 Tenergy They also work quite well you have to watch motor after 2 batteries and let it cool for a bit.

These also have the right plugs and work as well as any. It seems once you move above 800-900 Mah they go to dean or banana plugs.

9117 arrives in two days

My 9117 will be here on Thursday! I've got ten days of free time until my wife and I leave on a 30th anniversary cruise so looking forward to dialing it in and reporting on it. Maybe I can be the first to start the official DH 9117 thread .

rpc4, have you seen the 9117? Looks like that might be closer to 450 size, or at least a bigger version of the 9116. Kind of wish I'd bought that instead of my 9116, because I used the 9116 to replace my 9118, which was a nice size, but co-axial.

I think a FP 450 size is seriously missing from the market, maybe the 9117 will fill that void?

Tom
It's not a 450 size although the size often quoted would make you think so. It's between the big old 9053 and our 9116's. 21" if memory serves. Personally, I think they should have gone full 450 size but suspect they didn't have a single motor capable of powering one that big and didn't want to invest in developing a bigger motor. The 9053 works because it's a coax with twin motors but a single rotor in that size with that same motor would be sluggish as heck and not a lot of fun. Hopefully the size is perfect for the motor and it will fly with some authority. I'll let you guys know as soon as I can charge it up, do the mechanical setup and get it in the air.

Thanks Sammy, I ordered one off eBay for now, and asked HK to email me when the Turnigy ones are available. Might grab a couple of them for spares.
