Now that's ripping along Alex! Well done!

Definitely planing a trip there .... funny thing is that I was in Hamilton on that day and there was barely a breath of wind!

Good work Alex, is that just a Vanilla D60 or have you got tip weight in it? Sure was ripping, its nice to know the more affordable DS models can go over 300!

Still waiting for my D60 to break 200

Cheers

Tom

I think it has tip weight in it. Joe Manor built it and did a fine job!

Unfortunately I don't have any scales that go over 500gms. The CG is where Joe M set it and it seems bang on, maybe slightly forward.

Stay in it!!!!
CG should be exactly 62MM. Alex's model weighs about 85oz. empty and 100oz. all up. This is a bit lighter than I typically fly mine at on big days. 120oz.

Now that was cool! Congrats Alex on the new records and PB's. That must have been the first 60 inch over 300 outside of the US/California? It looked rediculously fast. The Kinetic is seriously impressive. I love the way you hit that rock and it just bounced! Any other plane would have been in pieces. You are very calm and relaxed, commenting whilst flying 350+ well done, great to see some other guys up there with you.

Thanks Joe, mine weighs 57 oz empty and 89 oz fully ballasted in the fuse, seems to go OK on the backside, but only had it up to 137mph fully ballasted

As usual, the SW wind forecast has diminished to about 3/4 what it siad it would be, about to head up and check things out. Probably only looking at 30-35kts up the hill. Will report when I get back, have to wait for my radar man to arrive before i can leave

Yep as I thought, about 35kts up the hill. Not exciting anymore at that speed. Didn't bother with the K100 as it wasn't going to get much above 320 odd in those conditions.

Flew two locations, Forsyth ridge and Wainui ridge.

Had some fun with the D60 and tried the Wainui ridge in the opposite direction for the first time. Cruised around in the mid 200s. Vid coming

35 knots, pffft, hardly worth it, only good for some sh*tty 250+ acro.

Wainui seems like your best spot so far for SW. It seems much quieter on the back and a bonus that it works in both wind directions.

Which camera are you using Alex? VholdR?

Eric
