Close
I put the servos close to each other like that for a couple of reasons,
1. One mount piece of wood for both servos in the front and same in the back. 2. It clears to tail cone where the servos are and in the tail. 3. the piece of wood on the back not only gets glued to the bottom, but also that little step down/ridge corner of the stab fairing, so there is more support. I can't stress enough, that you have to SAND and clean the area well before you glue anything in there. My fuselage had dust and dirt built up all over the inside. Ralph Quote:

I also plan to run some small machine screws (at least two) through the bottom and into the wood... just for some extra grabbing power.

Finally got a little bit of time to work on my latest Sniper XL90.
Also took the liberty to take some pictures of the new Horizontal Stabilizer. Happy to report that there is one solid piece of wood layed up along the entire length of the trailing edge as well as the entire length of each Elevator leading edge. See for yourself! Vic |

yeah i was pleased to find that too in mine. iv been tinkerin along on my build. pondered for some time about mounting the servos in the wings as i wanted them removable. so i glued a peice of ply in the bottom of the well. used some 1/2" alum angle to make the mounts as you see and screwed them to the ply in the bottom.

Watching Brent fly the crap out of his XL90 at BigJolt sold me. Been looking for a big sportjet that doesn't need 3000W to break 100mph like my flyfly F-100. Guess I'll be ordering one this week!

Awesome! I discovered when putting the hinges in one of the wings that the wood was either cracked or not in one space on the hinge line. For this particular hinge spot I loaded the slot with Gorilla glue and put the hinge in. I think it will be fine. I really dont see myself flying this thing at 180mph.

youd need about 7kw to get this airframe to 180 lol. mine does 115-120 on 2500 w. vics does 140 ish on 4kw. i like it as a sport model not a speed machine. i do snap rolls...tumbles..tail slides..hammer heads...spins..knide edge....you name it

The one I'm building right now will be good for 2500W on 8s.
My 4kW is stupid fast out of a dive and tracks like a laser, but I want an extreme aerobatic bird like Brent's |

i think i put 8 flights on it on saturday. i finnaly made a hatch latch lol, and i used one of my prototype F-20 cxanopies that i made, it looks nicer imo, and added a pilot, along with some added decals, and a new set of tires since i wore out the other ones.
ive probably got 70+ flights on this model already. |
