I wasn't there for all of them so I cannot say 100% what happened.

- I know of one that crashed because the hinges were not glued well enough in place (due to the factory not putting wood in the stab properly)--- that kind gentleman posted pics and vid and I believe he got put into contact with Robert @ EJF right away.

- I know of another that crashed due to an Elevator servo letting loose because it was improperly and insufficiently glued in place.

- And of course, the original Prototype that I crashed at the bottom of a huge power dive when I ripped the stock cloth hinges out... which of course prompted me to recommend everyone either double-check or use beefier nylon hinges.

It's a shame my 4.1kw Sniper isn't flying anymore, but I havent' even bothered justifying the original elevator design anymore. The flying and tunnel tests proved their value... (and would bust many egos if they were present, but that's not what I was aiming for anyways)

Nonetheless, I hope the new Stab/Elevator combo is what the people are looking for!
I'll be getting my hands on one and flying them with all of ya too. I've even got some more ideas I wanna try on this bird...
Ace. Can u do a guesstimate on top speed with your setup?
I also got a 4kw setup that i might use.

Straight/Level at WOT was definitely at/above 150mph... I believe some people watching this thread were at LA Jets earlier this June and can verify that.

Out of dive, it's easily 165+mph. I will admit that it seems to hit a speed barrier right around 165-170mph; likely due to the oversized and non-optimized intakes... still pretty fast though!

Only problem is I'll probably do another custom scheme.

Brent,
Do you need any parts to get yours airworthy again?
I built mine right and if the wood have been in the right place for the hinges im sure it would still be here now lol.

Pav u should get one of these planes sure worth the money fly great straight and true

i Saw Vic's Snpier at LA jets ...it was a good 160 ,a tad faster than C/N's 8s set up ...so yeah i think the air frame reaches a point where way more power is needed to go any faster ...but man 140- to 160 thats fast enough i'd say

U would need lots of power to get through 190mph more than 12s i think Ali Machinchy is flying a ultra flash with a merlin 160 with 40lb of thrust in it and he's trying to get through the 300 mph .He's only managed 288mph so far and this airframe will need a 50lb + to get it there and this airframe will fly's nice on a 18lb thrust, lots of alterations have all ready been made to the airframe its on the limits now.

Air sally's right u would need lots to get it there fresh air is pretty thick!

redoing the inlets and ducting would make a huge differance. ive been thinking of doing it to mine. a foam core wing and stab would drop a pound off this model too. the wing/stab layups are pretty damned heavy, but the fuse is super light weight.

I was running 12s on the HET 9305V2 using their 700-68-1200kv motor.

Nice setup for 4.1kw. Wicked fast acceleration and just about unlimited vertical.

Vic - thanks for the tip about the naca scoop. I used it on another bird and its made a big difference w/ cooling.

I was currious if you've decided which 8s combo you might go w/ for your next bird. I'm assuming you will stay w/ a het fan, which appears to load differently than the jetfan. So I was curious which Kv motor you think would work best for the HET fan on 8s. Thanks for any thoughts.

1600 is a great kv for the het fan on 8s. 1500 works well too if you want to keep the load nice and low

+1

I'm going to go the 1600kv route and use "throttle management"... maybe.

Had an offer of a plane from Het they have given me a new motor and the plane for $250.I still think that the plane would of still been here now if the wood had been in the right place for the hinges.

dont think its a good deal realy as the plane cost well over $1000 distroyed everything retracts, esc, batterys, servos, but suppose thats how people do business now .Still love this plane though but a little diapointed with het

first and last flight Het super sniper xl (2 min 29 sec)
