I just finished up my first homebuilt Hex, I am using Avrotos with Castle creation PH-25's (new multirotor firmware) I have been very pleased so far with the flight quality but something seems strange.

I usually always push my Basic gains up until I see oscillations on any FC I tune. The Naza being no different I slowly increased the basic gains to 225. It is very solid but I wanted to see some wobble so for grins I jacked the basic gains up to 325 and while it seemed a bit tighter it would still hover smoothly. If I tried this on my quad with the SimonK ESC's it would have jiggled itself apart.

Does anyone else see this??

Thanks,

Mike
Yes, I'm flying an F550 and had to put the roll/pitch gains up to 300 before I saw the slightest momentary oscillation after releasing the stick.

Thanks Bill, can I ask which ESC's you are using??

I wonder if this is just the way the Hexacopter firmware works. There is no way I would get the gains this high with my quad.

That is my biggest pet peve with NAZA.

I can usually go out pretty quick, but then I fight the NAZA all of the way back.

I have almost had to ditch it because it faught me until the LiPos were dead.

Barely made it back.

I haven't found the answer yet.

Im finding when flying FPV that if im holding the stick forward for constaint forward movement that it feels like its correcting itself and leveling cause after a while i can be full stick and hardly moving

Would this be a setting? I have most of the gains at 100% or just above... i also notice that if i let go of the stick and let it hover/level then its right again but works its way back to hardly moving again

I'm using the DJI ESCs (I've never understood why so few people get these) with Torxpower motors. I had the same ESCs and motors (and Naza) in a quad previously, which used lower gains.

Prop RPM is a factor though. The handling of my hex. altered when I switched from slow-fly type props to Graupner E-props (which turn at higher rpm to give the same thrust). I had to increase the gains significantly - even yaw, as the nose was wandering after the prop change.

The Graupners are noisier and a bit less efficient (with my setup), BUT they track really true which reduced vibration ... my objective in swapping.

As far as which channels are which on you Frsky receiver, you'll have to consult the Frsky Manual.
FWIW, the way I understand Frsky, you are able to arbitrarily assign channels.
Maybe you'd better move over to the Frsky thread and ask.
GW, I hope you're not in over your head here...

Better be glad MCrites didn't answer you.
He'd be scolding you for not RTFM and Googleing...

Actually he needs to check his 9x manual, thats where the channels are assigned, not in the frsky module

If Assistant is telling you to update, you should click the button letting it do so.
It will automatically install the latest firmware...
