Here's the video. I have to say that Bruce looks VERY realistic - well done!

Hi Rick, in my future projekt i have been thinking about using an electrical
windscreen-wiper engine.
You can by them on the junk-yard.
Then you get an arm that is going back and forward+good torque.
This is of course if you have the space and 12V to feed the engine.
Steering by sliding the hole package back and forward.

Just my thoughts about the teknology here.
Strong servos must bee around, just a question about what you like to pay.
Maybe hobbyking.com has what you need?

Thanks for the video Nemo, yeah Mats I have a wiper motor but I don'y know how to turn it into a servo , I have a guys coming across to help me this weekend with that , see what he can do , The sevro in there at the moment is a Tonegawa-Seiko PS-050 High Torque Servo
[TONEPS050] that cost me $260 and I think it got water in it so I think is @##$$%^ed I want to build a servo with 120 to 150 kg of torque but what still has speed , Don't know if I can get the two , I really want more speed . You can see in the video looks real but thats its top speed. Thanks again for everyones help with the videos and all the support THANKS VERY MUCH !. We need more sharks built so we can get our own section in rcgroups :}

But why do you ned to turn it in to a servo?
Canīt you just power it with an ESC and let it run?
If you bay a complete unit it schould go back an forward when you put the power on.
The downside is that you canīt control where it stops so esy..
Well, you can if you put some thoughts into it actually.
You need to ad some circutbrakers atatched to the arm maybe?
Keep us uppdated.

The way I have it set up , if you look on page 1 there is a photo there of the first servos I had , They as well as the big servo I have now is hooked up to the alerion channel on my radio so if you want he tail to go right you move the stick to the right left move it left you have fantasic control over the tail there is no esc just the radio battery and servos I use the servo because it is easy to waterproof with the latex . I can't see any other simple way of doing it .

Readymade servos have their bennefit but i think that it might be hard to inkrease the speed.
Ceep upp the god work anyway.
Iīm folloving your progrees with great interest.
We really need more radiocontrolled swimming kreatures here.
Itīs strange that thereīs so litle to find on the net??
Maybe time to start a new thread and ask people to fill in there tips?

Just an update on what's going on , I want Bruce to swim quicker I'm making a servo out of a stepper motor {HIGH TORQUE CNC NEMA 23 Stepper Motor 28kg.cm . Guy at the electronics store is going to help {Or should I say make it for me } I should get it back in a month , it should take me a month , so give it two months an check back in then to see if he is swimming quicker , Cheers
PS if the guy can do this I'm post how he did it so noone else has this hassle

Hi Rick, letīs hope that this makes Bruce kvicker now.
Looking forward to your uppdate.
Here i Stockholm the temperature is just reaching 18-20°C.
Summer is cooming :-)
Iīm thinking about designing a sailboat from scratch.
I have allways wanted that.
Just have to get rid of some airplaneprojekts first.

If you use a geared motor with a wheel on it set so that it would alternately pull one cable than the other similar to the cables used on a motorcycle throttle then you could adjust the speed of the alternating tail movement by simply changing the speed of the motor.

Also a bilge pump set to discharge on the bottom at about pectoral fin distance could also be a simpler way to generate forward thrust while still using the alternating tailfin without reinventing the tail motion.

Somewhere i have an article about a brittish gay (i think), that
put a bilge pump as steering aid.
It was pumping through the geels.
It was a model of an great white chark.

Maybe a hidden propeller in the mouth ??
No, the movement of the fin and the "real" function is important here.
Iīm sure that Rick will be successfull.
Keep up the god work.

Thanks for the suggestions Car' , but I think the tail hooked up to just the throttle would not work for me I would have no control over the direction , if you watch the video the way I turn it is hole the alierion to the right the tail will hold to the right and Bruce heads that way , I can see how I could control the direction as well as I can with a servo motion on the alieron channel , And like Mats said the challenge is to get Bruce swimming just like a shark ,no other propulsion systems , pure tail ! :} Cheers anyway and thanks again

Ok , just an update, I've been trying to get two different people to make me a servo out of a motor, NOTHING as yet as happened from them , BUT I did find a mob that make what I'm after I think . They are called Device craft ,{ http://www.devicecraft.com/wimoseco.html } in the US I have odered from them a windscreen wiper motor converted to act like a servo that runs through a pot' I shopuld be able to connect that to a sevro with a linkage arm, When I start it I'll put some pics up of the setup, Hope everyone is well ? see ya

Ok , I'm sooooooo close to getting Bruce back in the water , I think I have found the last of my leaks in the WTC I have made in his belly ! If anyone is going to try and build one ,BUILD YOUR WTC BOX FIRST !! build the shark around it , What a hassle:{ Like I said I have the windscreen wiper motor/ servo , that’s ready to go, I have made a lid and gasket for the WTC, but I keep getting leaks in it , my trouble is retro fitting the belly into a WTC, I kept taking it down to the lake ,putting it in getting a leak , after the tenth time !!! I ended up hooking up fitting in a hose connection and filling the WTC with water and find the leaks that way, I’ll try and put some pics up on what I’m talking about, Hope everyone is well :} Cheers
