Rascal 110 Electric Conversion with Arming Switch and Spark Arrestor

I got a crashed Rascal 110 from a friend who nosed it in.
I had to replace the firewall, along with a few other little repairs.
All in all it turned out pretty good for a free plane.

Setup:
Motor: JustGoFly U5345-7 Motor
ESC: Castle Creations Phoenix HV-85
Prop: APC 22x10 e
Batts: 9s 5000mAh
Note: Planed to do 10s but one cell went bad on my battery.

Amp Draw: 62 amps @ WOT stactic
Wattage: 2020 watts

I also added a High Current Arming Switch w/ Spark Arrestor.
This killed the High Voltage Spark when plugging in the batteries.
And keeps me away from the prop when powered up.

I did radar the plane and my top speed was 80mph.

Pics and video to come.

Here are a few pics of my plane.
The wing struts were broke so I made 2 from flat bar aluminum.
They seem to work just fine.

Arming Switch

This is my arming switch I added for safety. And also to remove the spark from high voltage battery hook up, of which can pit your connectors making a bad connection.

Here is my take on the link below.
High Current Arming Switch w/ Spark Arrestor

I use a momentary switch and a 1 ohm 5 watt resistor.
The switch and resistor are in series. I then soldered the resistor end to one female bullet connector. And the other coming from the switch to the other bullet.

To arm I press the switch(wait till I hear the first beep) and plug in my male bullet key.
I used 10 ga wire on my plug filled with solder to make it stiff.
Then coated with epoxy to give it shape, covered with heat shrink.

Short Video

I did a short video to show how well the plane does. I had already made a flight before I did the video.
That was why I didn't fly that long. This was my 2nd time to fly this plane so not sure how long my flight times will be yet.

I'm using these arming plug switch from www.sharpRC.com

Nice Arming setuo, I'm using these arming plug switch setups from www.SharpRC.com. Like them alot, super small and high current, and you can always add the anti spark curcuit.

Tas - I flew my SuperStar Yesterday, 5345 on 10s. It was great. Very powerful setup. Previous fuel setup was 1.60 OS FX Two Stroke - which I would not fly as low. I can hover and pull out with authority. It's a bit tail heavy, which I figured out due to it's absolutely perfect flat spin, then it would climb when inverted. I'll add some nose weight.

I have not yet put an anti spark in it yet. I really like your setup and will copy. But I wonder if I should add a large capacitor in the power lead. Running a long power lead will stress the caps on the ESC. Normally 20 inch's is fine, but I like as short as possible on the power lines and will normally extend the lines going from ESC to motor.

My batteries are right up front with the plug so I have a short run ...it's not to bad. Only it makes it a bit nose heavy.
