a similarly setup plane wont feel any difference. but you can get a bit more power out of the motor on 8s, but honestly if you like light and floaty stick with 6s

Wow! Yours is the first 74" Edge that I have heard of that has come out nose heavy...

What motor are you using?

Joe is using the O.S. GT33. I helped him tune it the other day.

Mine with the Mintor 38 on a can has just 2 servos in the tail and I am not having any CG issues.

So do you need to move the rudder servo to the tail if you go with a os33?

I have a gt33 in mine. ruder in the pull pull position. 1 ele. servo cg is at 4.75 from leading edge. I do like a forward cg.

I think I will do 6S. I mean, all of Joe Smith's videos of his Edge are on 6S and he seems to have plenty of power.

yeah, i mean if you like only having one pack, and like it being floaty, you will have way more than adequate power with the right motor/prop combo

I flew Joe's 74" Edge at the Tenn. Huckfest in October, and it does have plenty of power and top end speed. However, he sets his TX timer for 4 minutes due to his aggressive use of throttle and to allow for a bit of conservative reserve. After my flight he measured the pack and said I could get by with 5 minute flight times. I was doing mostly low throttle rollers, a Split-S or two, and just easing the plane around a bit to get the feel of it. Flies really nice so I bought one and will have it ready to go by February.

But for my 74" Edge, I'm really wanting a bit longer flight times so I'm going 10S with a pair of 5S 4000mAh packs to start with, and the Hacker A60-7S (215kv) with a Xoar 20x10. That should give a good 7:00 to 7:30 minute flight times (motor calc.) doing a mix of 3D and precision at my, "cough", more relaxed 3D flying style

Wow you actually flew Joe's plane. Must have been nice flying what I would assume to be a well set up plane. What capacity batteries were in Joe's plane? If I go 6S I plan to go 5300mah. I would be disappointed to get only 5 minutes. Can anyone on the forum with the A60-6XS, 6S 5300mah batts and 20x10 prop comment on typical flight times? I do an even mix of precision and 3D (nothing like Joe yet).

I don't fly the 74" on 6S, but as probably the first person on the 3DHS forums to fly with the A60-6XS (and I own three of them), I can tell you that it pulls the 71" Slick around just fine, and I get around 5.5 minutes, but you must realize, I do a lot of high throttle stuff, as I am not great at 3D. That said, I am also only using 5000mAH packs, not 5300mAH packs. And lastly, on my Slick, I am using a 20X10 APC prop, which really is probably more of an amp hog than some other lighter props, which probably also cuts down on my flight time.

Joe was flying it on a 6S 5000mAh 40C Sky pack (~860g) with a 21x10. Yes, his setups are done right, and the Edge goes exactly where you point it. Flew nice on the float factor, and quick too (fitted out with high speed 0.06 sec. servos). Scott Stoops aerodynamic designs are hard to beat
