Hi fellas....
Hello, using a dle30 do I need to cutout "vent" holes for air exit ? The cowling seals the whole perimeter of the fuselage front... Or will it be ok with no exit holes ? Could there be possible air pressure problems ?
I would really like to put in a smoke system... Worried that smoke oil will enter the fuselage and damage it.... Am I better off with no vent holes. ?

The "rule" is three times as much exit area as intake area....

What about a smoke system... ? Do I just coat the tunnel with say a thin coat of epoxy to protect the balsa from smoke oil? What is the norm with a smoke system?

yes i believe that you coat the wood with epoxy or another sealant . i used a 2 part epoxy boat hull paint, water thin soaks into the pores of the balsa and really seals it.what size tank are you thinking about running and where are you thinking of placing the oil tank. just curious getting ready to add smoke to my 74

I was thinking of adding a little denatured alcohol to 30 min epoxy. ✈

Scroll to 3:20 will the smoke hurt the interior of the fuselage ? You can see the cutouts very clear.

In my 74" edge I have a dle30.... I do not have any cutouts in the fuselage or cowl(besides muffler output and front of cylinder) the dle30 does not run hot... Is this ok not to have cutouts in the fuse? Ive been flying it for a long time like this... But recently read somewhere that someone lost a planes covering from pressure... Now it had me concerned.. Is anyone else running a dle30 WITH NO AIR EXIT .?

How about if I block the tunnel entrance... Then I'm thinking there won't be any pressure in the fuselage.... Correct me if I'm wrong ?

Um, I dont think you want to block the tunnel entrance. I think I would leave the cooling/venting system alone and just coat the inside if your concerned about damage.
