That's good to hear, though I would probably use the A60-6XS with the same prop, though it ought to be similar in flight time.

Also Im putting 4000 back into the packs. I guess I could go longer and there brand new packs......time will tell.

Does everyone use a separate battery for the RX/servos or are some people powering their CC BEC Pro through the main batteries? I think I would prefer a separate battery for redundancy and so I could eek out just that a little more flight time.

meh...the extra weight negates any extra flight time imo. do whatever satisfies your internal worry wort.

my 72 uses a 3 cell 1000mah lipo into a BEC pro to power the servos at a constant 8v. lasts 7 flights with some mah to spare. my big Vyper uses a BEC pro off of the flight pack. both are happy planes.

just sold my 74 Edge today. Sad day, but it's another step closer to the 60cc that I've been eyeing.

Be careful with the word redundancy. You only have redundancy if you have 2 batteries and a system that will allow one to fail and keep flying.

What you're explaining is just separating systems to avoid 1 taking out the other.

If you're one servo/rx battery, wiring, or connections fail, you're done. That's not redundant.

Neil, I understand you probably knew this...but I just think it's important to not use the word redundancy in that situation.

youre not talking about any more flight time. we are talking about <100 milliamp per flight on this size setup, maybe 150 at most. thats what...30 seconds of flying time at most? not even worth considering

I get 6.min with 6s 5300mah Glacier packs with plenty to spare and they also have a 7s 5300mah for even more power,great packs IMO from EP Buddy

Yep, getting back into it a little bit - decided it was time to make some room in my life to play again - i was becoming a very dull boy! Golf is out after for a bit after back surgery so let's get together and fly soon!

Definitely more locked in feeling and has such a fantastic presence in the air - I had gotten a little spoiled with the punch out power ofthe Reaper powered 55" whereas the 8s setup had more of gasser style throttle response that ill need to readapt to. Winds were unpredictable and gusty so I flew conservatively but the plane didn't throw any surprises. Floaty enough that it sat like a kite and wouldn't come down during elevators into the wind.

I'm flying again to tomorrow but it might be my favorite 3dhs plane yet - the 103" extra is truly my favorite but, all things considered, the electrics are more convenient for me and don't aggravate the tinnitus!

Good to meet you and thanks for the deal on such an immaculate and well setup airplane - I just switched the connectors to deans, put a new program in the radio and it was up in the air with no hassles.

Yeah, I wasn't using the word precisely enough. Redundancy was not the right word but what I was getting at is that by having separate batteries for the RX/Servos and the motor, an ESC failure or motor battery failure wouldn't mean you lose control of the plane.

But for something close to redundancy for the RX/Servos, you could use the Battery Buffer from Western Robotics

Supposedly, you can connect either two batteries to it or even connect the main batteries to one parallel input and a dedicated RX/Servo battery to the other input and it would use energy from whichever source had the higher voltage. It's kind of a form of redundancy I guess. I'm sure this is overkill for this size plane, but thought it was interesting. Pretty cheap and seems like it's pretty small and light.
