Very Cool.

If you need another set I'll just trade with you

That sounds fair right? A set of custom standoffs for a custom guitar?

I searched the thread and found someone asking if an E-Flite Power 160 could be used but does anyone have this motor set up on their Edge?

I have an E-Flite Power 160, Castle HV 120amp esc, and 2 - 5000mah 5S packs laying around. And it looks like this might be the perfect match.

The power 160 would work fine. It is heavier than the recommended motor but it should balance without any problems.

Interesting. I have that power system in the cub I'm selling. Maybe I should hold onto the power system

Especially since the 74" Edge tends to come out tail heavy....

Might be overkill.

Power 160 on 10S is a popular motor choice for the EF 78" Extra which is a couple pounds heavier than 74" Edge.

I have both airframes and wouldn't dream of running 10S in my Edge. Depending upon "C" rating/form factor, your pair of 5000 ma packs may not fit Edge's battery tray (3 11/16" width).

airportdog,

The EF Extra 78" was another choice. Do you think the weight of the batteries and motor might be too much for the 74" Edge? I thought the 78" Extra might be too big since its in the same size/weight as the 40-50cc powerplant and the 74" Edge is around 30-35cc powerplant.

Plus, the dimensions you gave 3 11/16th". Is that the width max for batteries?

cmala,

What size Cub is your Power 160 in? I currently run the motor in my 90" 1/4 clipped wing Cub.

I only have an 18x8 prop which is the very bottom end of the prop range. But as a result, I get about 16 minute flight times. It cannot hover but it is very close.

airportdog,

I was thinking more about when you said you wouldnt dream of running my system in the Edge 540. Yes, it would have way to much power but what are the downfalls? Would it be difficult to land due to the added weight?

Erik,

My cub is a hempel 1/4 scale 90" clipped wing cub.

The power 160 on 10s is what several of the guys in the 78 EF extra thread like for that plane so it definitely would be a good fit for that plane

I have a 20 inch prop and get 9 minute flight times on the cub.

Probably has enough power to hover but the cub scares me post stall.

Plenty of power with the hangar 9 floats

The 78 extra is in between the sizes of the 74 edge (30cc) and the 87 extra or 89 slick (50cc)

I have a Rimfire 1.60 in my 78'' EF Extra on 10s. That would be too much for the 74'' Edge. The Extra is Bigger, Heavier than this guy. I fly my 74'' with a Motrofly 4325/310kv on 8s, and it has alot of power! It balances just fine too! That would be one heavy setup using the 1.60 and 10s 5000mah.

I agree on 10s being way to much for this bird. It is a great flying plane on 6s and I am sure its ballistic on a good 8s set up. The edge can be so floaty and forgiving it seems like it would be a shame to weigh it down with too much power system.
