I have a DLE-30 so I found a 10mm drill bit. Guess a 13/32 would have worked just as well...LOL

Just picked up one of these planes with a Hacker A50-14L and Castle Ice 100 in it. The guy was running 8s (2x4s packs) in it and Ive read people prefer the 6s packs on this plane with this set up. Any thoughts before I buy batteries, prop, servos....18x8, 19x8 possibly ??........

It was worth a try, think I paid less for mine. But for more than the proce of a prop..I won't try again. I'll just drill it out. I'm usually pretty good on props...just a cleaning of bahia grass from time to time.

Oh, the one I got was one of the prototypes, Ive never seen this scheme. Anyone seen this one before ?

Yea, Ive looked everywhere and cant find one like it. Its in great shape, so had to buy it. Wasn't sure if 3DHS would ever get these back in stock.

I've seen one in the Blue/Red scheme. It flew great!

I have, and it was probably that plane...since you are in San Antonio. Where the guy lived that had it. I got my 2 piece 71 from him.

Hey guys any thoughts on dx7s and throttle servo set up on my dle30 gasser- I don't have a throttle curve option, travel is set at 50% to 100% now. its flying OK now just wish it was a little
more responsive but this is my 1st gasser and don't have anything else to compare it too.
as always thx for your input.

Basically, the only way to "cheat" a throttle curve....is to do it the way you USED to have to....mechanically.

I have an engineering background and it takes me back to the days where we studied angular momentum in dynamics, vectors and the like.....but here is the general idea.

FOR THE DISCUSSIONS BELOW....we'll assume full throttle must PUSH the servo rod forward....

Try to think of the motion of both the servo and the throttle arm.....as they relate to the pushrod. You can mount the servo arm so the center position is about anywhere in a 360 degree circle...Where you put this center position affects the way the ARCWISE motion of the arm translates to a LINEAR motion of the rod.

You'll have exactly the same linear motion above and below center If you center up your servo arm at 90-degrees to the rod (a 90-deg angle from the servo center screw to the rod and down the rod....).

If you push the center position further to the nose of the plane, you should notice that it starts pushing rather quickly, then slows down as it approaches the upper end (forward) travel of the servo....notice now that the upper end of the travel starts to swing the rod to the side, and not all of the angular motion is pushing forward......This is what you'd need to do to soften the top of the stick...while making the bottom more sensitive.

The opposite is true if you move the center point to the rear of 90-deg......notice that if you were to push the center way back to the rear, the first motion you'd generate would be sideways and it'd take some stick movement before you get to really moving the rod forward rapidly. THIS is the way you'd like to set it up to soften the bottom of the travel while making the top more sensitive.

Of course, each time you make an adjustment, you'd need to adjust the length of the pushrod.....and set your endpoints....because the "throttle" arm on the carb is not adjustable....full open or full closed are always in the same place...regardless of how you monkey with the servo arm.

There you have it...old-school throttle curving.....
